FAQs about hotels in Auckland

Thrilling City of Sails and Volcanoes

Called the 'City of Sails' due to the large number of yachts anchored in Waitemata Harbour, Auckland is the largest city of both New Zealand and Polynesia. Built on the Auckland Volcanic Field featuring about 48 extinct volcanoes, this city truly offers a blast!

Auckland is a real cultural mix with strong Asian, European, Maori and Polynesian influences, celebrated in frequent festivals and sporting events. Some examples of these cultures can be seen at the Auckland War Memorial Museum, one of the best in New Zealand. For more, try the upmarket dining of the Viaduct Harbour.

Another must-see is the tallest free-standing tower in the Southern Hemisphere, the Sky Tower. If you’re feeling up to the challenge, you can even perform the Sky Jump, a controlled base jump from 192 metres!

Climbing the volcanic cones as well as the stunning Auckland Harbour Bridge will provide unforgettable, panoramic views of the city’s skyline. For a different perspective, why not try a cruise or sea kayaking?

Getting to the city centre is an easy trip from Auckland International Airport. Find modern hotels, comfortable motels and cheap hostels on Booking.com, sure to have the perfect accommodation for your holiday.

It's a beautiful city and there are many things to explore. I hope next time when I arrive there, I will gather the courage to do the extreme skytower walking and bungee jump from the Harbor Bridge!

Auckland is great to visit with many places to see. Would recommend a short stay at Auckland in addition to visiting other places either on the north island or south island such as Queenstown (which is what we did). Or if you do have a car it would be worthwhile and easier to travel to other places whilst staying in Auckland. Luckily the weather was great considering it's usually cloudy or rainy making it a perfect day to visit Mount Eden, Cheltenham Beach and Devonport.

This location is very central, we were staying here for a specific reason to be close to the Eye Institute but even if you weren't here for that it is a great location to the city and to south Auckland and the shopping areas. If horse racing is for you then this is also the spot.

We loved getting out of Auckland City and spending our time in a beautiful Air bnb north of Auckland called Torbay. It was delight! Strolling down to the beach and grabbing a coffee etc. watching all the local fishing boats coming in at the end of the day etc. superb 10/10

Great city, not enough time to explore it.

Great city, not enough time to explore it. The central part underneath the tower was nice, but just a few blocks away it became a bit dodgy with numbers of homeless looking people following into self-laundry. Just two blocks away and the city turned unsafe.

The central location to the city was awesome. From the hotel we could walk to the city centre, the harbour and some of the amazing central parks. Our unit had exceptional views 180 degree views and saw all the harbours, coastline. At night the lights of the bridge the tower and the city set a romantic feel and we could either sit on the balcony and view from the living room and pull the curtains back and have the view from the comfort of our large king size bed

Good room with all the amenities we expected. The hotel is located very close to Auckland Domain, a big park with a very nice museum. Auckland city centre is a 30 min walk away, which for us was perfect as we like to do things on foot. Also, it was nice that the hotel is located in a quiet area, away from all the noise and chaos of the big city. We also enjoyed the breakfast buffet very much.

The proximity to the CBD was ideal but we mainly used this as a base to explore the rural areas. It was clean and the hotel staff were absolutely lovely. Additionally, their discounted rate for the nearby car park meant we got 24 hours parking for £15! That’s unheard of in most UK cities! I’d certainly use the hotel again if I was looking for an Auckland city break!
