The chalet is just amazing and the best is that there are only two of them! Did a two hour walk on the beach and did not meet anyone! Also great view onto Westhaven Inlet from Knuckle Hill.

Beautiful off grid experience, with lovely nearby walks and discoveries. Coffee at the local cafe is outstanding, and the glow worm tour was magic. We loved the tracks around the swamp and wetland areas. Wonderful peaceful getaway with warm and cosy accommodation.

  • G'day Sally, we are thinking of visiting for a few days from Nelson with our daughter (she'll be 5 months by then). We've not ventured to your neck of the woods before, so can you confirm that the track is accessible without 4WD? Also, how long would you say the drive takes from Collingwood? Thanks
    Hi, There will be no problem getting here in a 2 wheel drive car. When there are lots of potholes and corrigations in the road, a car with very little clearance can have problems. It takes approximately an hour to get here from Collingwood. Cheers.

  • Hi, do we need to organise bed linen? Is there a stove top for cooking?
    Hi, All bed linen & towels are provided. The kitchens have a 2 element hot plate, a microwave, an electric frying pan and a barbeque. A kettle and toaster as well as all pots and pans and a medium sized fridge / freezer are provided in each chalet.

  • we are interested in this accommodation and are driving a 2wd rental car. Will the roads be suitable for this?
    There is no problem at all with 2 wheel drive vehicles driving out to us. The important thing to note with gravel roads throughout New Zealand is the ground clearance. Low slung and overloaded 4 wheel drive cars will touch the bottom as much as 2 wheel drive cars. There are no rivers to ford or huge great mountain climbs on the road here.

We own part of the largest wetland in the Marlborough / Nelson area and have opened it up to our guests. We are right at the end of the road with no traffic noise at all. There are miles of West Coast beaches to explore within just a few minutes drive. There are lots of walkways through the wetland and up into the native bush. The bird life is really amazing and the native flowers that you come across along the tracks always surprise. If you really want to get right away from it all. You couldn't do better.
We are both passionate about the environment and really enjoy helping our guests get the most out of the area. As well as the chalets we have a number of beehives and produce manuka honey as part of our income. It has been really lovely helping the area regenerate and watch the bird life increase as a consequence.
We have a really neat glow worm grotto I really enjoy taking our guests through. Each glow worm puts out a little light and standing in the grotto makes you feel like you are being watched. The koura (our little fresh water crayfish are really lovely to watch. It has to be dark to be at its best and is really worth the effort.
