Incredible archeology sites within 20 minutes by taxi: Chan Chan merits a visit of 2-3 hours, same for La Huaca de la Luna. It's more like a 2 hour drive to reach el Brujo, another amazing site. Trujillo itself has a really nice old town with a gorgeous cathedral, buzzing main plaza, and lively pedestrian streets. Good restaurants, especially Al Dente Trattoria. Outside the old town, San Andres is a pleasant residential area nearby. Huanchaco is a fun seaside town just a quick ride away. Uber is cheap and easy.

It is an excellent city if you stay in the central square. There are several shopping streets on the main square that are safe a full of activity. Trujillo also has excellent archeological sites that are well worth the visit.

We were in Trujillo for 2 days, 3 nights which was about right . The archeological sites nearby are well worth it, the square is pretty, nice colors And architecture , and there are good restaurants. Definitely stay around the square. That said, I wouldn’t make a special trip here unless you are needing to stop on the way North or South or you are an archeology person. One day we went to Huanchaco which was a bit of a disappointment- very scrappy town , interesting sort of.. but honestly don’t expect a charming beach town . The surrounding area is depressing. We did see the classic boats near the pier and had high hopes for a restaurant “Big Ben” It had great 3rd floor views, was clean and pleasant service but the food and uninspired menu a bland disappointment. Prices were high for the area . We weren’t sure if the other restaurants were safe for Gringo stomachs ! No Uber , taxis are cheap . The Archeological museum run by the University in Trujillo is small but excellent -

It is a phenomenal city but there is a lot of crime and I think it best to only be out and about with a local citizen who knows when and where trouble is brewing. I loved the restaurants, the archeology sites, the ocean, the ancient buildings, Chan Chan, the booze, Pisces and on and on. I will return..

I would recommend, costal the sol hotel because safety, and all all personal has good customer services respectfully, trust general manager is good Mr Luis take care any error make his employee loved loved, breakfast loved
The hotel is a beautiful colonial house with spacious and stately common areas. It is located at a 10 minute walk to the city center and just a cool 2 minute walk to a major road full of restaurants, shops and services (laundry, pharmacy, barber, etc.)
Staff are friendly and go out of their way to accomodate requests (for example, I asked for a bigger pillow, and I was given one within 20 minutes).
The best thing is the air conditioning, since many hotels in Trujillo don't have that, and it is a necessity, because the city is very hot.
The host, Junior, was amazing. He showed me around the farm and helped me figure out what to do with my days. The property is beautiful and secluded. Junior has done a great job designing the place to be eco friendly and unique. Super chill and would be great for a group of friends. It’s close to Huanchaco and the airport. Trujillo is a little rough around the edges, so it was nice to be in a rural setting a little off the grid.
The Host 'Mercedes' is an incredibly sweet and helpful lady. She made me feel very welcome and she was great to talk to! The place is a bit further away from the centre of Trujillo which makes it nice and quiet. But the taxi's will come get you, because the place is just between Trujillo and Huanchaco. The Archaeological place Chan Chan is really close as wel. The garden was very pretty with the colorful flowers!
The rooms are very basic, but the downstairs restaurant and staff makes more than up for it! And you still get your own en-suite bathroom including hot-water shower. The location is good, it's close to the beach and the bus to Chan-Achan and Trujillo. If you have the choice to stay in Trujillo or Juanchaco - stay here, in Juanchaco! Much more lively, sunset at the beach and surf lessons if you want to try.
super clean, bed was really comfy. I usually stay in hostels, so for me, staying here felt like luxury. fresh and fluffy towels everyday, bed beautifully made and a good, filling breakfast. the staff here is super nice and sweet. location wise is about a 20 min walk everywhere I wanted to go, so perfect location.
The hotel is in a very elegant colonial building right at Plaza de armas of Trujillo
The room was super comfortable with a huge bed, very clean and with air conditioning, which is quite rare in Peru
The staff was also very friendly and accommodating. The restaurant of the hotel was very good too, recommended!
Location and proximity to Plaza de Armas is great. You can't avoid the taxi ride from the city's main bus terminal to the hotel though, so be mindful of that. The bed was nice and comfy. Wifi worked. Hot water was really good. The cleaning of the room was excellent.
Great location and room had a nice overall view. Front desk Christian was very friendly and helpful. I didn’t get the young lady’s name but she was very nice as well. I’d gladly recommend and would stay there whenever I return to visit Trujillo again.
Excellent buffet breakfast. . . The staff was Kind, respectful and very professional. . .
I've stayed in many hotels in Peru... The Hilton TRUJILLO was the very best in every way.
- Breakfast was great
- I could drop my bagage in the hotel until getting a night-bus to Lima
- All staff members were very friendly, attentive and answered every question I had
We had a wonderful stay, from the helpfulness staff to the food and great location, It was a wonderful experience, and next time I come to Trujillo, this hotel is my only choice.
Very comfortable and clean room. Perfect location within Trujillo’s historical area. Nice breakfast. Room was serviced and cleaned every day. Friendly staff
