In Covid times, it was hard to get to Cabanaconde.

In Covid times, it was hard to get to Cabanaconde. There is only one official bus (Andalucia) and it departs from Arequipa very early or too late. There are also collectivos people can take to get there (local buses). Once there, the village is great, people are so helpful and the hikes are amazing! Please not there is no where to take money out, you absolutely need cash for everything.

    The people are really nice.

The people are really nice. I lost my wallet, while paying the fees to get in the park. I went down to Sangelle for one night, and the man (Patricio) who found it, brought it to the tourist place. They called every hotel down to reach me and kept it safe until the next day. A big thank you!

Hiking Colca Canyon was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. Breathtaking scenery with a unique flora and fauna. I highly recommend the hike from Cabanaconde - Oasis - Llahuar - Cabanaconde). Cabanaconde itself is a very small, rural town with lovely and traditional inhabitants.

An incredibly quiet non-touristy destination that we had chosen to get an additional view of the condors without the crowds. It was a great stay for the evening and gave us another glimpse of life in a quiet Peruvian town. People were very friendly and helped us with directions without being asked.

A very cute Inca/ Spanish town and not full of pretentious 1 day wonder tourists that you get, say in Cusco. Only serious travelers who are keen hikers come here and what a pleasure to b amongst those few.

Cabanaconde is a small, peaceful, and friendly Peruvian town...

Cabanaconde is a small, peaceful, and friendly Peruvian town perched on the edge of Colca Canyon, and a perfect gateway to several great hiking trails. Eco-tourism mixes with local agriculture here, and the community seems to be adapting well to the influx of visitors - many new improvements underway.

the family that runs the hotel is amazing. they are all so sweet and helpful with planning our trip into colca and also for bus information. they cooked breakfast and offer homemade dinner, which is great because the town is minimal :) it has a beautiful center garden patio area with hammocks and lounging areas that they are more than happy to have you relax in after your colca trek even if you aren’t staying another night. he rents trekking poles and has luggage storage.

Oasis Paraiso Ecolodge is very nice facillity situated close to the river on the bottom of the valley. You are accommodated in the simply wooden huts, but there is really warm, no need to have a sleeping bag. We were suprised we were given to the breakfast at 5 a.m., so you have plenty of time to ascent back to Cabanaconde (3 hours) to catch the bus at 9:30 back to Arequipa. There is also one pool with thermal water (ca 22C) to refresh.

This hostel is great! Ideally located next to the main square, the room was super cozy. The bed was comfy and we had the best shower we could find in Peru! The breakfast was included and very good and we could also buy sandwiches for the trek. They were cheap and yummy. Ludwig was extremely helpful and gave us a ton of recommendations for the trek in the Canyon. They also rent walking sticks, which are very useful.

LLahaur Lodge is very nice facillity situated close to the river. You are accommodated in the simply wooden huts, but there is really warm, no need to have a sleeping bag. We were suprised by large pancakes for the breakfast, it was nice. But the best of this place are three pools with thermal watter ca 38C. It is amazing enjoyment mainly after 6 hours descent from Cabanaconde.

La Posada del Conde is a comfortable and clean old style hotel that's a short walk from the Plaza de Armas. Service is friendly. Breakfast is scheduled to start at 7am but when I wanted to leave earlier Jorge got me breakfast at 5:30. Meals are available and offer a selection of several options from a menu. They stored my bag for four days while I hiked in the canyon.

Wonderful hotel! Everyone running the hotel was so welcoming and friendly. I had a special request and Leandro jumped right in to help. It was also fantastic taking part of the Easter celebrations in town. Cabanaconde has a beautiful culture, if you reach out to take part in it.
