Although it's considered the oldest inhabited city of the Americas and Peru's historical capital, neither of these truly describes the magic enchantment and colorful people of Cuzco. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, its current shape is the colonial result of building on top of many Incan sites, a good example of which is the Cathedral of Santo Domingo.
Must-see places include the walled complex of Sacsayhuamán and the remains of the main temple of Coricancha, dedicated to the Sun God, Inti. For longer Cuzco stays, hotels nePlaza de Armas central square are ideal to fully enjoy the city. Due to its 11,150-foot altitude, some Cuzco hotels offer oxygen to help their guests.
Moray, supposedly an ancient experimental agricultural station, is 29 miles away, and Lake Titicaca is 240 miles away. The road to Machu Picchu is the famous Inca Trail or "Camino Inca," which encompasses settlements, different Andean environments, and many Incan ruins.
Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport offers services to Lima. Arriving at Wanchaq Train Station or Terminal Terrestre de Cusco bus station are also popular choices. Come to visit the ancient jewel, enjoy Peru and Cuzco with the hotel deals available on Booking.com!

It´s one of the most beatiful cities I've visited. I love the landscape view, people is very kind and it has a lot of activities to do. I stay in Cusco a very short time, but I enjoy it as much as I could. I visited San Blas viewpoint, the Church and Rainbow Mountain, but my favorite place without no doubt was Machu Picchu.

I've been to Cusco several times over the past 25 years and also lived here for longer periods and for work. It's always been a hub as there is so much to see and do in and around town. Plan a week there, and you won't be bored. It's a buzzing place, there is such an abundance to choose from (tours, trips, hikes, walks, ruins, accommodation, markets, souvenirs and of course destinations like Machu Picchu and the Inca Trail), it's almost too much. You can do parties and clubs, or enjoy the quiet places, walk the ruins up the hills in nature with stunning views of high cordilleras the beautiful Andean scenery and enjoy the peacefulness in the company of some lamas and alpacas. I found that post-Covid the locals are still struggling with the lack of tourism. Nowadays the markets are better organised and have mainly been moved to indoor facilities over the past decades, tourists often don't know about them, e.g. in Pisac, and the locals suffer from few clients and low business. The regulations around Machu Picchu are ridiculous and overpriced; while it's good some rules are in place to deal with the amount of tourism, it has taken all the joy out of visiting the ruins. There are plenty of equally great alternatives though, if you find MP too expensive, don't want to plan half a year in advance or simply don't enjoy the crowds, go to Pisac instead, walk the full hike, or Choquequirao if you want a multi-day experience. For long timei travellers: if you have time, you can easily stay here for a month exploring the Valle Sagrado, get fit in the altitude, learn about local crafts, food, culture, history, Spanish etc.. After a while, it always feels healthy to leave Cusco again. Safe travels!

Pretty touristy city.
Pretty touristy city. Every building is a shop, a hotel or a restaurant, basically but it's really worth it. Tons of trips/treks/activities to do around (machu picchu, salkantai and inca trails, ruins, museums, rainbow mountain, etc). The city has a good vibe and it's not too expensive (despite being touristy). Getting around was ok. Finding a friendly and trustful taxi is a must :)

A must visit city if you go to Peru.
A must visit city if you go to Peru. There are tons of hiking options outside the city, including Inka Trail, Rainbow Mountain, and the lake etc. The scenery is breathtaking and the Peruvian food is delicious at a Very reasonable price. Come and enjoy Cusco. I will be back.
We had an amazing stay in Hostal Madre Tierra. The location was perfect in the cosy area San Blas.
The whole hostal and the rooms were nicely decorated, it felt really cosy and warm!
Host Maykquell and his wife made us feel like we were at our second home. They were very friendly and extremely helpfull. Every night we got a hot water bottle to keep warm in bed, these details made us feel like we were in a home instead of a hotel.
When we came back to Cusco after our trekking we stayed again at Madre Tierra because we had such a good time.
It is in the San Blas barrio, which is known as an artists’ colony. It has fantastic views over the city (which means it’s a 12-minute uphill walk from the historic town Center). Note, tho, that the entrance to the hotel is via a pedestrian walkway. You might have to haul your bags a block or two and up/down stairs. The decor is charming. Our bed was comfortable; the hotel was very quiet. The staff are friendly, and as helpful as they can be without speaking much English. Our Booking.com price was incredibly good value for money!
We had an amazing stay in Hotel Peru Real. The location is very good, we were walking everywhere. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are clean. The best part is the staff. They are so helpful and welcoming. Roberto made our stay incredible. He helped us book all our tours, adjusted it to our schedule and genuinly cared that we were safe and happy. If you go to Cusco, book everything with the Hotel, not online. We had the best help and would reccomend everyone to do the same. Thank you Roberto and the rest of the staff 🫶🏽
By far, the best hotel that we’ve stayed at throughout Peru!
Hotel sits atop Cusco (so there is a little bit of a hike to main plaza area) but come night time, the peaceful quiet and beautiful overviews of the city were perfect. Staff extremely attentive, English speaking and offered recommendations for our stay. Laundry service available, happy hour drinks, breakfast every morning. No elevator - so not handicap accessible. We took advantage of the massage services - great addition to our stay.
Very comfortable and new place. The hotel is essentially newly built so everything inside is new. They have a great terrace where there is a cafe and a great view of Cusco. The food is great, especially fruit salad for every recommendation. All the staff working at the hotel are very kind and willing to help and that is what gives that hotel a high rating. They even provided us with oxygen in the bottle for free due to difficulties in acclimatization.
Hotel Recoleta boutique in Cusco has recently opened and this is their second property in town. Everything is new, comfy bed, nice hot water, great room and nice breakfast. They are very professional, great hospitality and go above and beyond to make sure your stay in peru memorable. They helped us with booking the city tour (with best Price in town and much cheaper than online) and gave us all locations for shopping and places to visit.
This is a genuinely charming hotel set in a beautiful colonial building. The entire place--including the rooms--is adorned with intricately carved furniture and accent pieces. The rooms look out on a quaint garden and some wonderful views of the city. The hotel is located on the outskirts of San Blas, just a few blocks from the main plaza, as well as a few restaurants and shops. The staff were always pleasant and helpful.
Antigua Casona San Blas exceeded all my expectations. I stayed twice for 3 nights each. The staff was super friendly, every request was immediately met. The food the best in the whole of Cusco. The design beautiful but relaxed. The price extremely good value. Rarely ever do I stay in a hotel where there is not even a detail to improve (I did not try the Spa but participated in one yoga class which was very good).
We loved the breakfasts and just overall ambiance of the hotel. It felt so original to Cusco and I appreciated the rustic decor. Turndown service daily was great, and I highly recommend having dinner at their onsite restaurant as well! They made us a wood burning fire as we were sipping Peruvian wine and eating excellent Alpaca… would stay here again in a heartbeat and recommend to others as well!
Very nice staff around Trillce, helped me to organize tours. The room had incredible views, was very comfy and sparkling clean. The hotel is near Plaza de Armas and San Blas but still on a site road, so quiet but near to all bars, restaurants etc. - would come back to this hotel when in Cusco, felt very home there. Breakfast was great and the lady even gave me some local fruits to try.
Everything was perfect : the location, their availability, early check-in, good price, private bathroom, they store your luggages while you do a trek. Breakfast is basic+ and is a good start for the day. San Blas market is super close. WiFi works well. The bonus : a beautiful top terrace with a nice view. We went to several other hotels and this one is by far the best. Don't hesitate!
The Reception Team Jesus and Juan Carlos were great, they were able to answer questions about the local area and made the welcome experience great. Wasn't too sure about the hotel at first, but it was exactly as pictured and was great pick and good value. Definitely would recommend to friends and family, and plan to check them out again, next time I'm in Peru!
Really nice hotel in San Blas. A bit far but it is in a quiet and pretty square. The facilities are great and the rooms are super nice with lots of storage, good shower. Wifi is much better than in other places (but Cusco in general can have wifi issues). The staff are very friendly and breakfast is great
This lovely hotel resides in san blas area with many shops and restaurants.
The room was nice size. Great bath, superb service
We ate dinner once in the hotel restaurant and the food was excellent
Breakfast wss very rich and tasty
The staff was attentive and helpful with any need
Highly recommended
Great accommodation in Cusco and the hotel staff were very friendly and the hotel was super clean. The rooms and showers are really nice, comfortable and clean. The breakfast was really good and the staff were very accommodating. A great place to stay overall!
Great hotel in San Blas and Carlina made my experience an excellent one. I wasn’t feeling too well, so she brought me coca tea, helped me with laundry, and much more. She’s a real asset to this property
Clean and spacious rooms. The hotel is hidden away from the busy road which makes it very quiet.
At breakfast they make you fresh eggs. Choice is plenty.
For a budget hotel this was 5 stars
A cute little hotel, very conveniently located next to the San Pedro market. It's also next to the Cusco perurail station. And it's just around 10 minutes walk from Plaza de Aramas.
It has so much charm, and for the price it was exactly what I wanted. It even has a hot tub (for a price), and the breakfast was one of the best hotel breakfasts I had in Peru
I loved how safe and welcomed I felt as soon as I entered to the hotel. It felt like a beautiful boutique hotel with Peruvian tradition and culture all over the place.
