Of my hostels so far, this is definitely one of my favourites - the island place is perfect for everyone who likes to have a little peace (I had the beach almost for my own), the nature reserve nearby is beautiful, and though I was there in June, I didn't even see a handful of tourists. The house itself is convenently located near to "city centre" and beach, and the rooms were really nice as well, me being allowed to use kitchen or living room if I needed them. Moreover, Fernando, the host was most helpful and friendly, helping me completely selfless in repairing my bike! So - thank you for the great time and I would definitely recommend staying here!

I didn’t know that we had to share the bathroom. Wifi was not fast enough to watch HBO, Netflix.
The couple that has the property was really nice and kind.

It could be more bathrooms in the house. We travelled group of 8, and we have only 1 bathroom.

DO NOT BOOK THIS PROPERTY! The host is the rudest and most obnoxious person you can meet. Initially, we tried to book a room for our family (wife, husband, and our 4-year old). We were told that the room we wanted didn’t have enough space for a bed for our child. Afterwards, we decided to book another room, with multiple beds, supposedly dorm style. However, neither booking.com nor the host Fernando told us that by booking this room we had to sleep with other guests. We assumed that by securing that room, at almost € 170, without bathroom, we’d stay together as a family, obviously. It turns out, after waiting to check-in in this bedroom (which was not pretty, by the way), we had to witness the host blaming us for booking the way we did, and expecting that we would stay there with this other woman who was occupying another bed. Again, this was NOT a large, spacious, nice bedroom. Worst of all, when asked if he and his family would sleep in rooms with other people, and about what we were supposed to do to solve the situation, he referred us to Booking.com, as if he didn’t have any responsibility in the matter. Obviously, we argued about this messy situation, outraged that we had to go through this with our small daughter, and with no other possible weekend reservation in the area, and he ends up shouting at us like a mad man, expelling us from his property and threatening to call the authorities! Insanity at its worst. We were shocked and shaken by this episode, and now we are attempting to get some money back from Booking.com, otherwise we not only lost our 3-night vacation in this area, but also lost our money. People who are hosts MUST be decent, proper, kind and accommodating, especially when faced with a family with small children. If there are misunderstandings or miscommunications with booking certain rooms, then the host should try to help and support the guests. Casa Dunas should not be allowed to operate if Fernando behaves in this fashion with his clients.

Fantastic and very welcoming hosts. The location is a short walk from the beautiful beach - definitely recommended to watch the sunset. The room is basic, but very clean with a balcony and comfortable bed.

The bathroom did not have soap, gel and/or shampoo. Maybe it is too far from Aveiro if you don't want to take the Ferry - about 50 min. by car for only 7,5 km.

The house is decorated in a rather poor taste, and could use some improvements. The bathroom stunk. The dog is as big as it is kind and docile, but unfortunately the owners do not look after him as a pet needs. There was dog poop all over the garden.
The quietness of the area. The short distance to the beach and nature reserve.
