“A fairy den hidden just outside the modern world.”

What a PERFECT way to end our journey around Portugal. This place is a gem in the vicinity of Porto. While you are a bit cut off from the main sights in that area, I think that's part of the allure. This quaint, wooden hostel is located in the middle of the woods right by a waterfall, the sound of which will lull you to sleep every night. You'll feel as though you've entered a dream, surrounded by birds and furry friends, including the hostel's very own cats, which will happily snuggle up to you whenever you sit down. Everything is old-fashioned, and whatever's new is hand-crafted by the owner himself, a lovely German fellow by the name of Nikolaus. The kitchen is fully equipped, except for a microwave, and the outdoor area is breath-taking, further enhanced by Nikolaus' fairy lights and lanterns dotted around the place. Yes, it's a bit of a drive from Porto and Peneda-Geres National Park (our reasons for being in that area), but boy will that inconvenience fast not matter as soon as you arrive at this fantastical place straight out of a fairy tale.
