But to be more specific, I like the location, the house (despite having no elevator the staff is always ready to help you carrying the luggage), the garden and the nice reception space. Located within a completely restored 19th-century building, So Cool Hostel Porto offers modern, private and shared accommodation in one of the most central avenues of Porto, Avenida da Boavista. Free WiFi access is included.

Featuring high ceilings with stucco works, rooms are bright and airy. They all include lockers, individual reading lights and have key card access. Bathroom facilities are shared.

Guests can use the common kitchen to prepare their meals and enjoy them in the sunny dining area or outdoors, in the furnished garden area, with a glass of wine from the cellar. Thematic Portuguese dinners are organised by the staff.

The So Cool common areas allow guests to relax with a book, listen to music and watch TV/DVD. Rotunda da Boavista is 5 minutes’ walking and Casa da Música is a 10-minute walk away.

An inside look at So Cool Hostel Porto

There are no records about the building construction date, all we know is that it was built before 1890 and during many decades this outstanding house was used as a bourgeois family home, then, from 1950 to 2010, she was used, along as the other houses around, as premises of one of the best private schools in town - "Externato Lumen". When the school was closed, this charming house took a two years rest and was then sold to us for renovation in order to transform it in a hostel. In the renovation process we kept it as original as possible in order not to lose her personality. Now our guests can experience living for a while in a XIX century historic building, enjoying the quiet of its garden, and all the comfort of nowadays of its interior.
