This villa was a pleasant surprise. The location is right next to the cathedral. The building was historic and decorated in quaint furnishings. Breakfast was next door in a cafe shop and was delicious. We wish we had longer here but ateast the location meant that you could explore the old town in a couple of hours. A restaurant recommended to us and very close by with backdrop of lit up church was great and had an extensive wine list. Parking on sites was excellent.

This is a lovely very old building which has been tastefully converted to provide accomodation. It was opened by the then President of Portugal Mario Soares in 1988. The upgrade has been tastefully done so that you are still staying in a virtual musem but with modern facilities (bathrooms etc). Especially worth a stay if you are new to Portugal and its previous halcyon days. Breakfast is taken in another part of the building which is classed as a tea room - breakfast is something to behold. Be hungry please!

The lady in charge speaks no English but with patience communication can be made. Those with heavy luggage will find accessing the residence via the steep front steps is demanding.

Dreadful entrance steps and lack of signage to show where entrance to building was located. Dark and cold interior. A nice looking modern bathroom in room however utterly useless sink with slit for drain that made it impossible to have a bowl of water for washing and shaving.
Friendly helpful host but not a lot else.

Beds not comfortable, bedding old style of sheets and heavy blankets... no duvet. No additonal amenities such as coffee or water in the room and minimal bathroom amenities - The hotel was a charming style of old world, somewhat antique shop feel but done well and authentic. The staff were very pleasant and helpful.
