The five house is a charming property uniquely decorated. It was clean and provided a delicious breakfast with a variety of foods. The steps to the upstairs are narrow, but taken slowly are doable. I only stayed one night wish I had stayed more. It had rained and I was cold at night I’m sure I could have asked for an extra blanket but didn’t think about it. Having some extra blankets easily available would have helped. The beds in the upstairs are low, but so are the ceilings, not for tall people.

Everything! Vera and Felipe (hosts) were super friendly and helpful with me and guests. I got there pretty late at night and they gave all the instructions for self check-in. It was the cleanest hostel I’ve ever been! Amazing breakfast and excellent location!

    Hi. We serve the breakfast in the living room, from 8:30 to 10:00. But if you need to leave earlier we prepare everything for you to take the breakfast in the evening before, so you can wake up and have the breakfast. Thank you

Company info

The Five house is owned by Filipe and Vera. The name Five house came because the number of the house is 5. But there are coincidences that do not happen by accident. Also because Five are the initials of Fi-lipe and Ve-ra, and also because they were at the time the Five House started, five: two dogs, Bilbo and Mel, a cat, Bianca, and Filipe and Vera. Unfortunately Mel left August last year, and new cat (Yoda) and another dog (Byron) join us. We are a couple which biology and photography brought us together! We live in the beautiful, mysterious, foggy town of Sintra, which is a constant source of inspiration. Filipe and Vera lived in Florence, Italy, for 4 years, which proved to be another big source of inspiration and ideas for their projects. During their stay, they travel a lot and try out many B&B. Since then, they had a dream of having their own B&B in Sintra. Last year we came across the perfect opportunity and we couldn’t let it slip through our fingers. And then the Five House born.

The Five House is a rustic and charming house, traditionally and simplistic decorated, located in Sintra’s historic centre, 5 minutes walk from the train station and 15 minutes from the Sintra National Palace. Its an House with a large living room, a sunny terrace and a kitchen fully equipped. The House have 2 double rooms with shared bathroom located on the ground floor and two mixed dorm one side has 3 single beds, and the other 4 single bed located in the attic. Separating these 2 sleeping areas, there is a leaving room and a bathroom. The attic ceiling is low so people higher than 1,85 meters can feel a bit uncomfortable. Also to mention that sometimes during summer time the attic can be a bit hot. Anyway, fans are provided and normally Sintra is always cooler than Lisbon or other places in Portugal. Breakfast is served in the living room from 8:30 to 10:00.

The Five House is located in a XVIII Century Villa in the historic centre of Sintra, 5-minute walk from the train station but at the same time surrounded by nature, which makes it unique. The house has a large living room, a sunny terrace, and a kitchen which is fully equipped, so our guests can cook their own food if they wish. The house have 2 double rooms with a shared bathroom and, two mixed dorm, one with 4 bed and another with 3 beds and a common bathroom. All the rooms have their own theme illustrated with owners own photographs. The walk from the house to the National Palace in the old town takes only 15 minutes and along the way you go through other places of interest with stunning scenery. The Five House is the perfect place for families, couples, friends or even solo adventurers!
