Majestic city built inside a 16th century medieval fortress, keeping all the historical elements it is famous for. Many accomodations to choose from. Some great restaurants and diners. Open air swimming pools are available around the city. Nearby you can also find a forest and a great hilly area which provide a great panoramic view of the city.

Alba Iulia is a touristic town, full of history (the biggest fortress in Romania), with great connections by road ( A10, A1 ) , train or plane ( Sibiu Airport 50 minutes away and Cluj Napoca 1 h. 15 minutes ). There are very good restaurants with reasonable prices - Vila Preciosa or Pub13, for example. Plenty of cultural events are going on, every month. Don't miss the changing of guards on Saturdays and Sundays from 12.00. Also, Fridays, at 19.00 there is a Daco - Romans Fighting Show. Don't miss the History Museum and Sala Uniri ( where the unification act was signed on 1st of December 1918 ). There is a new and nice museum for icons - Museikon.ro. The cathedrals - catholic "Sf Mihail" - the oldest and longest in Romania, and orthodox - The Coronation Cathedral, where King Mihai 1 was crowned in 1922. Have fun!

Pleasant experience overall, not only inside the fortress, but also walking on the cobbled pathway between the two external walls of the bastion, where nowadays there are benches, ornamental trees and even a small pond with exotic fish. There are a few cafes and food vans inside the citadel, so the visitors could recharge themselves while walking between statues, churches and museums.

This is a city in Romania which is really prepared for tourism, above all the expectations that we had. There are QR codes on the streets and on the main attractions, English speaking in every museum and restaurant that we entered.

I visited the city for a music festival held at RYMA spaces, inside the fortress.
The fortress is well preserved and has a lot of wonderful sights and attractions. It has been restored and looks great.
However, the city itself is not that cool - it does not have too much to offer, except for the fortress and historical center, of course. It is unkempt and, with the exception of the modern center, rather poorly maintained. The roads are terrible - potholes, roadworks, poor traffic management, etc..
If you are not attending a festival/other event, spending more than one night here is too much.

Alba Iulia is just wonderful.
Alba Iulia is just wonderful.
Modern and full of history at the same time. Good food, great views and atmosphere, tourist friendly. It's definitely a must see!
It wasn't my first visit but I will go back there again.
Apartment is located near the city center, on the 1st floor. Parking lot for free is available just behind the building. Very convenient considering we were by car.
The host, Marius, was very kind. He waited us, even if we arrived late evening. Later on, he advised us what is the best attraction outside the city and explained in detail how to visit .
Apartment was perfect clean and very comfortable for our group of 3.
A number of shops and an open market are very close to the Raema Cetate.
This new hotel offers perfect accomodation for vistiors of Alba Iulia, a city with great history and culture. It is located in the midst of impressive architecture surrounded by the complete wall of the fortress.
The rooms are very comfortable and the staff is helpful and competent. The breakfast is fresh, tasty and offers a wide choice.
Thank you for an exeptional stay and all in all we can warmly reccomend this hotel.
Perfect place to stay and relax for a while. The property is privately owned by very friendly people. The rooms and garden is exactly like you see on the pictures. Everything is done with great taste and very comfortable. We planned to stay only one night, but booked another just to stay a little longer. Next time when we'll be around Alba Iulia, we'll be back.
In itself, it wasn’t a really bad experience. But due to some poor design choices for the room, I can’t recommend this place. Here are some good things:
* Close to the Alba Iulia Citadel
* Private parking inside the courtyard
* Awesome patio
* Free complementary coffee and tea
* Comfy bed
* Complementary toiletries
* Boho style room
Very nice and clean hotel. Room comfortable with all the amenities, except an electrical charging point for phone and laptop.
I would like to mention Ms
Elena, hotel's manager, for her warm welcome and guiding us to other interesting places, around Alba Julia.
Definetevly, a good value for money!

The entire experience was wonderful! Everything was newly renovated and extremely comfortable! If you have the opportunity to stay here, it is well worth the very reasonable price! We will be staying here again if we find ourselves back in Alba Iulia.
The most relaxing stay we have had during our week travel in Romania. Very comfortable, exquisite taste, excellent breakfast and relaxing music. We really managed to recharge our batteries after our adventures in other locations.
The location is amazing, it is one minute from the center. The hotel is very interesting, it is an old communist hotel with an interesting architecture. The view is amazing, I don't think you can get better in Alba Iulia.
We enjoyed our stay at the hotel very much. The hotel is very clean and comfortable and the staff was very polite. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast and the whole experience was very good value for the money.
Just wow. Loved the location and the place, which is very modern and equipped with everything you need. We got the feeling of home and the beds are super comfy. The best place to stay in Alba Iulia.
Very clean and nice rooms, excellent customer experience. The owners pay much attention to details both to the accomodation and welcoming the guests. One of the best places to stai in Alba Iulia.
The apartment was very clean, had modern furniture and was super easy to access, with public parking right in front of the entry and also right in the city centre and very close to Cetatea Alba.
This was an unexpectedly fantastic, historic hotel in a beautiful location. Alba Iulia is packed with history from the Roman times to the present and Hotel Medieval is right in the middle of it.
Awesome location within the citadel. Hotel rooms decorated nicely. Staff was friendly. Breakfast was good, better than expected. Good experience overall, would return again.
