Unlike regular museums that you can just visit, a stay-over museum is a place where you can also sleep and live, allowing its guests to have a unique experience of a time travel to past times of Yugoslavia by living in a authentic mid-century modern design from the era. Name Yugodom comes from two words – Yugo which is short for Yugoslavia (SFRY), a country that no longer exist on maps but in it’s peoples’ hearts and minds, and dom, which in most languages used in former Yugoslavia means home. Hence, Yugodom literally means Yugoslav Home. Yugodom is a curated museum collection presented in a form of a guesthouse, or more simply put, a stay-over museum. We are located in heart of Belgrade, in the neighbourhood of Dorćol, on a street lined with linden and sycamore trees. Only steps away from vivid and colourful Bajloni farmers market and cult Skadarlija, it is in a historic residential building from the end of 1950s built for a JNA (Yugoslav National Army) officials and their families in a recognisably social-realist style. These types of buildings represent a strong, firm and solid type of architecture even today–spacious, clean lines, bright, big windows with lots of natural light. We won’t try to hide it – we are very proud to be located here in the heart of Belgrade’s downtown in a cozy and vibrant neighbourhood, Dorćol. Dorćol means crossroads, and it is truly a colourful crossroad of different cultural, historical and social perspectives of the city. Across the street from farmers market Bajloni, next to cult bohemian Skadarlija, located in a vibrant street of Strahinjica bana. 3min away from new cool hip area of Cetinjska 19, 7min walk to main square and main pedestrian stret, 10min walk to Kalemegdan park and fortress and 20min walk to Danube river makes our location supreme and hard to beat one!
