My sister hadn't been there before so we were just doing a quick tour on the way through. The new markets are so nice, especially in the rain, compared to the old makeshift shelters. That was great. Rekona Lodge is comfortable and accommodating, our meal at Gizo Hotel was very nice. I could spend much longer there, as a diver, but for this trip we achieved what we wanted to.

Gizo is a spectacular place to make a diving holiday. Dive Gizo will make sure that you have everything you need to enjoy some very memorable diving experiences and there are world-class views to be had from nearby island accommodations.

The actual Gizo island and Gizo city may be the least interesting spot, but that's just the arrival point to one of the most beautiful and unspoiled locations on our planet, with dozens of islands of unimaginable beauty and cristal clear waters. In Gizo, visit the market and have a meal at the Gizo Hotel overlooking the harbor.

The Gizo market is a fun place- many would not enjoy it, however if you are already experienced in island markets then you will enjoy this one. Friendly, not pushy, locals selling fresh vegetables and fish straight off the boats. Bargaining is fun. The village doesn't have much else to offer, although Dive Gizo are here right in the middle of town. there is a great wee soft freeze icecream shop, and plenty of foodstores to buy snacks to take out to the islands with you. Unfortunately in the Solomons the main way to get drinking water is in plastic bottles....

    Gizo is a nice place.

Gizo is a nice place. The best part are the locals who are great people. If you like people watching, spend some time on a seat near the wharves or the markets. You can walk anywhere you want to go. Be aware that your plane will land on an island near Gizo and you will have to pay for a boat to get there. It cost me 50SBD
