Ptuj is a lovely historic town.
Ptuj is a lovely historic town. There are thermal pools which are a little dated but still very pleasant. The best experience was the visit to the castle. After you buy your ticket you can visit an exhbition about local carnival tradition (Kurenti) and an exhibition showing the production of cotton, silk, linen and wool. Then you can go to the castle which has three floors. You can explore various exhibitions on your own, there are paintings, weapons, furniture, and a lot more. We especially liked the mix of modern "paintings" and the old ones.

Very nice old town with a pleasant town centre. Easily walkable and nice pedestrianised areas. Quite a few sights to see, easily visitable in one or two days. Good choice of restaurants with lovely local food. We didn't do any cycling but it looks like a great place and area for cycling. The river and local area are interesting for birdwatching. Ptuj (especially city center) is nice, cozy (the oldest in Slovenia) town with rich history to tell, some really interesting bars and all that is reachable on foot. If you like beer, go to Bodi bar, if you like more "indie" scene go to Muzikakafe bar.

Small city, very nice, can see in a day or two. Outdoor cinema at local theater was great. Castle is cool. Terme Ptuj (waterpark) only fair. There is a free bus that can get you from the bus station (across street from train station) to center of city, and to Terme. We walked, but it was a bit warm and we had luggage, so knowing about bus in advance would have been good. Hotel staff had no clue.

we transited only, i passed through ptuj before, remember some bridge and river, some nice old architectiure downtown but nothing extraordinary to consider as tourist destination for more than a 1 night sleepover

Cute little town full of history and character. Visited during kurentovanje and was completely impressed at the joy the local people expressed towards one another and visitors. Felt genuinely embraced by the whole community and got a good sense of who Slovenian people truly are.JonathanCanada

Until 2016 a monastery, it was converted in recent years into guest rooms. The protected building from 1510 was lovingly restored, and all rooms are completely modernised. Located between the castle and the main square, it is ideally located to explore the town. Due to the new windows and the thick walls, it is one of the quietest hotels I have ever been. Our host gave us a very warm welcome and made us feel like friends and not mere guests.

Loved having Robby the dog wandering around, it was like home from home, and the quiet little cat said Hello too! Fantastic breakfast. All in all, staying here was a one of the highlights of our holiday to Slovenia.

Parking was ample, and the host was extremely amicable, even bringing us "krofi" (donuts) one night. The location is an easy (<10 minute walk) to Ptuj, across a pedestrian bridge, which avoids the hassles of driving and parking in the old town. It's also conveniently near to a grocery store and nice restaurant (Pomaranča). The view out the bedroom towards the Ptuj 'Grad' (castle) was gorgeous!
