    Tonga has a lot of beaches. We are close to the waterfront (less than 5mins walk) but if you want to visit more remote beaches we can arrange for a shuttle, rental vehicles, or even taxis. Most beaches, even places, are within 30mins drive.

Malau Lodge is 100% locally owned and a small family business employing friendly local staff. Malau Lodge has been an "Affordable Home Away from Home" in Nuku’alofa in a Great Location to its valued customers both Corporate Clients and Holidaymakers since 2012. We stay loyal to our Tongan history by integrating tales of Tonga to our business and practice our culture and values in serving our valued customers. Your Home Away in Nuku’alofa being named after a very special creature and is the only surviving megapode in Polynesia, Malau Bird of Tonga. They are unique to the Niua Islands. Malau Lodge is set on a private property with three units each with three bedrooms; ensuite Queen Room, Queen Room Shared Bathroom, and Double Room with Shared Bathroom. Queen Ensuite and Double Room can be connected to form a bigger Family Room. Each unit has a kitchen and a lounge. We would like to believe that the configuration of our lodge is family friendly and provides a 'home' feel.
We genuinely believe in providing a friendly and homely feel to our lodge. We enjoy making guests feel at home and helping them enjoy their time in the Kingdom, whether its learning a few Tongan words, or arranging for a visit to outer islands or simply to share stories. We understand being away from home is never easy and why we endeavour to make Malau a Home Away from Home.
Malau Lodge is situated in Fasi moe Afi Village in a quiet and safe neighbour-hood on Fasi moe Afi Road. It is opposite Tanoa Hotel/Ministry of Labour and Commerce and centrally located with short walking distance either to the central business district of Nuku’alofa where Government Offices, café & restaurant, bars and local market can be found or relaxing walk through water-front to its restaurant and bars, local bus station; to the local ferries for a simple day out at the outer island resorts or for a whale watching trip or a lifetime experience of swimming with whales. Its centrally located for meetings at the Faonelua Park, National Reserve Bank of Tonga, Australia High Com, Ministry of Labour and Commerce, Electoral Commission, US Peace Corps, Chinese Embassy
