Vanilla House has been built by Dorota Katende, an African Safari & Zanzibar Island guide and author of “Dom na Zanzibarze” (“The House on Zanzibar”) book.

The house is decorated in Swahili style with elements woven from the palm leaves (makuti) with typical Zanzibar furniture such as carved large sultan's beds or chairs made from cow skin by local people.
