Located just 2.8 km from Jinja Golf Course, 30 Wilson provides accommodation in Jinja with access to an outdoor swimming pool, a garden, as well as full-day security. Jinja Base Camp opened in July of 2017 after what started as a conversation among friends of “what will you do when The Hairy Lemon is flooded by Isimda Dam?" It was then decided to take up the gap left by Nile River Explorers Backpackers when their Jinja based backpacker closed in February of 2017. At Jinja BaseCamp, we aim to offer top quality service and hospitality at value-for-money prices while striving to build on the positive impacts of eco-tourism and reduce the negative impacts to Uganda. This is an ongoing process and one that constantly demands an active role in the community and the environment.

30 Wilson is situated in a quiet and peaceful suburb of Jinja, with some of the tallest palm trees in Jinja and a garden shaded by two ancient Jacaranda trees. The team at 30 Wilson are very proud of the continued lifestyle philosophy as can be found on the Hairy Lemon Island – that of “living in harmony with your environment”. 30 Wilson has a stunning thatched boma which houses the restaurant and bar Bacchus as well as a beautiful swimming pool in which guests can cool off after an adventure filled day. A variety of affordable accommodation is on offer ranging from camping to single, twin or double en-suite rooms and cottages (with their own kitchenette, lounge and dining room) as well as four funky dormitories that offer 4 bed, 5 bed or 6 bed combinations; all with their own bathrooms and private veranda. Simple gray water drainage systems have been built and designed in such a way that the hibiscus hedges and gardens are given a much needed growth boost; solar lights have been installed in the garden, cottages and restaurant - all very much in keeping with the philosophy of "keep it green and do no harm"

30 Wilson is situated a short walk from the Nile River which has just started its long journey from Lake Victoria. Jinja itself also has a rich and varied bird life, with many endemic species on a "twitchers" wish list. 30 Wilson is a short 5 minutes (by boda boda or vehicle) from Jinja town, which offers visitors a myriad of shops, restaurants and curio shops to wander through. The local market is abundant with fresh produce that overflows and provides a kaleidoscope of sights, sounds, colours and smells to test one's senses.
