I lived in the Durango area for several years and had to move away. This was another revisit. The main attraction is the railroad. I have taken the Cascade run and it is a wonderful experience. I believe Durango has a good mix of acitivites for young and old. There are so many great restaurants and children appear to be welcome. It is a tourist town, yet I have always found that customer service is great wherever I go. There are galleries and books stores and toy stores. There is so much history to glean with exciting stories of the settlers and the miners in the area. Then of course, the outdoor activities are year round and endless. The mountain views are topped only by the ones in Ouray and Silverton in this area.

Durango is a charming old western town with a fun vibe. Great for cycling and other outdoor sports.
We liked The Office for dinner and live music. We were surprised we couldn’t find good Mexican food.

Cost of living went through the roof during/after the pandemic. Durango is experiencing a housing crisis. Stunning location and close to beautiful country. Spirit of the town has changed dramatically over the years. Spirit of the mountains and surrounding area is naturally the same. The town feels kinda fake.

A nice town. Touristy, but nice.
A nice town. Touristy, but nice. Great Hotel, older, small rooms, but very nice. Very close to D&SNGRR depot, so very handy for us. Nice town, but, perhaps a bit pricey overall. But, we knew were on vacation, and we certainly enjoyed our stay.

Durango is a delightful city with a wonderful downtown with good restaurants. We went there to take the Durango Silverton train ride which was great. While in Silverton we toured an old Gold mine that was so interesting and informative. After our visit to Durango we went to Mesa Verde Indian Ruins, a must for everyone’s bucket list. We had a great vacation in southwest Colorado New Mexico area.
COVid didn’t help the food and beverage situation . Tried several local restaurants but close at 8. A new member so I hope I get points for my stay in Kearney Neb and Colorado . BTW one hote pool open until 11 , the other 10. Unable to use by the time we got to hotel from dinner . Drove from Nebraska didn’t get to Durango until near 7 PM . Didn’t realize the town shut down so early . Maybe a heads up from front desk for travelers not familiar
The EVENING desk clerk was so nice & friendly, hotel has trails & placed chairs out along river run trails for comfort, hotel is on Main St with access to Trolley that runs every 20 mins only $1, hotel is walking distance from library, & recreation dept w/heated pool w huge water slide, exerciseequipmentetc. Walmart delivers to your room. One if the housekeepers cleaned my room superb, they service rooms every 3 days
Hotel was historically decorated right down to the elevator. Located on Main Street in the middle of historic Durango. Also next to train station for the historic Durango/Silverton ride. The staff was very polite and accommodating. Wonderful experience!!
Super hotel. Easy check in. Super friendly staff. The room was extremely clean, spacious, and modern. The bed was comfortable and clean A decent breakfast included, they even had eggs/bacon. . A wonderful stay. Highly recommend in Durango, CO.
Chose this hotel for the location -- on the river and an easy walk into downtown Durango. It was clean, appeared new, and the staff was very friendly. Underground parking in a secure garage. Had a balcony, but didn't use it due to the weather.
Hotel is in excellent location to Train and Downtown shops. No need to move car from parking lot. Room was clean and basic, Construction of building behind, but luckily noise was not a problem, as we were out most of the day.
It had an indoor pool/hot tub, it had breakfast options, it was very close (walking distance) to downtown Durango, the beds had a lot of pillows and the room fridge was big, which we needed.
We rode the Durango steam train, and the hotel was just a couple blocks from there and so convenient! Close to downtown restaurants. Beautiful historic hotel. Coffee offered every morning.
The staff were super kind. I liked their breakfast selection also the hotel pool and gym was quiet well. The location was perfect only 3min by car away from the Durango to Silverton Train
The facilities were a bit tired, but the staff was amazing. Pool was nice. Happy hour was really nice, and the breakfast was much better than a typical hotel buffet.
