I had been to Kailua-Kona before and really liked the feel...
I had been to Kailua-Kona before and really liked the feel of the downtown area. Unfortunately since I was last there they have introduced paid parking just about everywhere that makes it very expensive to go out anywhere when you add in a cost of $15 per hour to park. My advice would be to stay at one of the hotels within walking distance of the downtown area if you want to enjoy the restaurants there.

Kailua-Kona is a laid back, chill, serene, and beautiful place to visit. There are so many things to see and do (beaches, farms, parks, historical sites, shops, etc). So many restaurants to choose from with amazing food choices.KathyUnited States of America - Scored 2.02.0
The place was infested with German cockroaches, and I mean...
The place was infested with German cockroaches, and I mean infested. There is only ac in the living room, so the 2nd bedroom was so hot! When we got there all of the towels were in the dryer so we had to fold their laundry before we could even settle. The furniture is old and dirty. The bedsheets were dirty (make up smudge on sheets and hair, so we had to wash the sheets before we could get into bed. On a positive note, the location is great, the view is amazing, and the hot water is hot.

A fantastic location to stay while visiting the island. Very easy to get in and out of the town to the highways. Has the best tourist shops and restaurants. Multiple beautiful beaches with every water sport you would like to try. The water is safe and beautiful for snorkeling, swimming or just sitting and watching.Charles - Scored 1010
I enjoyed my stay at Kona
I enjoyed my stay at Kona I was upgraded to an oceanfront view, which was fabulous even though I didn’t eat at restaurants I prefer cooking my own meals. I had a very relaxed vacation.
