Was amazed at how the area population had grown since we lived in Lucerne in the late 60s. Clearlake Oaks is kind of a dot in the road on Hiway 20, but a nice place to visit! It was fun getting grub at the same Fosters Freeze in Lucerne. same as it was 50 years ago! AND -- our dog Tige loved his ice cream cone! =];?) Good fishing access. A couple of decent restaurants. The Chinese place was very good and could eat in the bar. Boat check station / bait and tackle shop. I would have prefered a more secure place to stay other than my hotel. Maybe a house on the water with a dock or a Marina Hotel. Other than the fishing I am not sure Clearlake Oaks is a great vacation destination. I would look for a higher end place to stay in Clear Lake.AAnonymousIndia
