From the Inn it is only a short distance – a stroll of about four minutes – to Camden’s gorgeous harbor and quaint downtown. From there one can easily walk to Camden’s many fine shops and excellent restaurants.

Hello! We are Janis and Peter Kesser, the innkeepers of the Camden Maine Stay Inn. We have owned the Inn since February 2018. Before we were the owners of the Inn, we were guests here for many years. We so thoroughly enjoyed our repeated stays at the Inn that, when the prior owners told us they intended to retire and sell the Inn, we jumped at the opportunity to become the Inn’s new owners and proprietors. Our goal is to continue and improve on the legacy of first-class accommodations and service that have been the hallmark of the Inn for many years. We hope and believe that our appreciation and enthusiasm for Maine, Camden and the Inn will both attract guests and, once they are here, rub off on them. It is so easy to fall in love with the natural beauty, history and traditions of these places – not to mention the fabulous gourmet breakfasts for which the Inn is deservedly so well known. The Inn was built in 1802, is the second oldest home in Camden, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It has been meticulously maintained over the years and captures the essence of coastal Maine. Our eight guest rooms and multiple common rooms are tastefully decorated with fine period details, are immaculately clean, and combine the elusive qualities of sophistication and comfort. Guests are welcome to socialize in our splendid common areas, including the living room, piano room (with its vintage Steinway grand piano), dining room, den, kitchen and sun porch. Inside our guests enjoy the Inn’s impressive fine art collection and extensive library of classic and contemporary works of fiction and nonfiction. Outside is our beautiful, spacious and inviting garden with abundant green spaces, walking paths, sitting areas, and a year-round stream flowing from Mt. Battie to the harbor. Each morning the Inn serves full gourmet breakfasts that emphasize fresh, homemade foods made with locally sourced ingredients. Last but not least, we are well known and admired for our relaxed, friendly atmosphere and kind, attentive (but not obtrusive), and well informed innkeepers.
