The breakfast was served eloquently, with real silver utensils and beautiful china. Tablecloth and all. First water, juice, and a fruit, granola, and yogurt blend. Then a lovely Quiche. Great conversation with the hosts and other guests.

Downen House Bed & Breakfast
The Downen House was built in 1889 by prominent Pueblo land developer and Civil War veteran, Thomas J. Downen. Our house has been home to several individuals that were very influential in the development of the City of Pueblo and surrounding areas. When you stay with us, please ask questions and check out the entire documented history of our home in our Guest Directory. The Downen House Bed and Breakfast is three story Victorian home, with a wrap around porch complete with a swing and rocking chairs. We have walking paths throughout the property and a Garden Room to enjoy your coffee or an evening cocktail. Breakfast is served daily in our beautiful dining room. Also in the dining room is a small refrigerator with complimentary refreshments, complimentary snacks and a microwave. Our home has all the charm of the 1890's but with all the modern comforts you expect. Our rooms have comfortable beds and linens, refrigerators with complimentary refreshments, coffee and coffee makers, ceiling fans, supplemental room controlled heat and air conditioning (primary heating and air conditioning is provided by the house systems), wine glasses and bottle openers, as well as complimentary toiletries. Please note that our guestrooms are located on the second and third floors of the home and are only accessed by staircases. Also, we are a non-smoking property. No smoking products of any kind are allowed on our property, to include vaping products. If you forget your toothbrush or shaving items, we have those too at no cost. We have plush robes, an iron and board as well as a hand held garment steamer for you to use. If we don't have it, there are plenty of shops within a mile or two of our home.
Your hosts are Tamara and Scott Gilbertsen. We have been blessed to live in the front range of Colorado for over 20 years and especially love southeast Colorado. We look forward to meeting all our guests and sharing our beautiful home. You may see our little rescue puppy "Pumba" running around. He is friendly, but can be little shy. Because we have a small dog on the property, we do not allow pets of any kind. We hope you understand and would love to see you soon! Colossians 3:2
