We loved EVERYTHING! Gorgeous peaceful property tucked away from the crowds yet convenient for island explorations. Our family stayed in the Sunset Suite and the glamping tent - SO. MUCH. FUN. and so comfortable! The privacy, the symphony of nature, amazing views, abundant fresh fruit and farm to table meals, combined with the overall positive, healthy vibe was so relaxing and made us want to move in permanently! Such a wonderful opportunity to experience the real Hawaiian life, we appreciated escaping the typical generic hotel experience and cherish our memories-what an amazing lifestyle! Thank you for opening your farm to us!

The first word that comes to mind to describe Gingerhill Farm Retreat is magical. Other adjectives I would use would include healing, fertile, lush and gorgeous. I stayed in the Sunset Suite. It is a nice-sized, well-appointed suite in the main house with a porch and the most stunning ocean and sunset views I have ever seen. Nothing fancy, but it was comfortable and convenient and I honestly haven't slept that well in a decade! At night, the stars glow brightly and the frogs sing and lulled me into depths of slumber that still have me feeling calm and rejuvenated. And don't miss out on the farm tour or the meals. The food is incredible; nourishing and delicious. The hosts, Zach and Iris welcomed me into their little community and made me feel totally at home. Iris teaches an awesome yoga class and the farm tour is super fun and packed with information. I am already looking at flights to go back and visit them again next year. Thanks for a great stay!

Gingerhill Farm Retreat is located on five acres of organic orchards and gardens nestled just above the famous Kealakekua Bay. We offer serenity and escape mere minutes away from local restaurants, cafes, and shops. Take a stroll through our gardens and marvel at the sunset from one of our various scenic decks. Hike down to Kealakekua Bay and swim with the Dolphins. Gingerhill Farm offers an exotic escape from the hustle and bustle of 21st century living. Complete with bathroom, kitchen and outdoor shower, our Garden Cottage offers the independence of a cozy private dwelling situated just above the gardens. Relax on the deck in the evenings as you enjoy breathtaking images of the sun setting over the Pacific. The Sunset Suite is a large room in the main house with private bathroom and shower. It has a queen and a twin bed. Relax on the deck in the evenings as you enjoy breathtaking images of the sun setting over the Pacific. Now that the gardens and orchards are mature, we love being able to harvest a huge variety of nutrient-dense food from our land. Visitors are always blown away by our Garden of Eden-style food forests.
Zach and Iris met on Iris's home island of Florianopolis in Brazil. Today, Zach and Iris operate as co-directors of Gingerhill Farm Retreat, leveraging knowledge obtained from their comprehensive education in agroforestry and Syntropic farming to manage an organic farm in tropical paradise. Iris also utilizes her extensive training in yoga, as well as her skills as an Ayurvedic Therapist, to provide healing services to guests and volunteers alike. It is Zach and Iris's mission to educate others about sustainable practices by creating opportunities for visiting guests, interns, and volunteers to learn more about the land. South Kona's "Greenbelt," has long been known for farming, especially coffee. Lush growth and farms, cute stores, antiques, and cafes dot the road down to Historic Kealakekua Bay, where Captain Cook once "discovered" Hawaii and where tourists now swim with the dolphins. We chose this property because of its deep volcanic soil, ideal elevation, and breathtaking ocean views. In our commitment to promoting transparency, we would like to say that there is more to sustainable agriculture than whether you use chemical fertilizer or organic pellets. Here at Gingerhill Farm, we heed our role as stewards of the land and commit to practices which improve the health of our acreage year after year. This means we spray no insecticides or herbicides. It also means that in Hawaii, a subtropical island, we experience intervals of mosquito or termite pressure. Resonant Coqui frogs, native to Puerto Rico, sing at night and sound like crickets. We consider these players as part of our ecosystem, and strive to maintain a balance. Our grounds are beautiful and fertile, partly tamed and partly wild. We ask that guests understand these dynamics and book accordingly.
