Uvalde is a very beautiful small town, very friendly people and plenty of restaurants and shopping....EXCEPT a small Restaurant called; "The Local Fix" TOO LONG of a wait, waitress took TOO LONG to render service and the food was very so and so. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!S - 10Scored 10

Uvalde is a beautiful old Texas town, full of local history, shops, and recreation. I have stayed there many times over the years. Garner State Park is a short drive to the north. The Lucky Eagle Casino is 70 miles to the south. Until the recent school shooting on 5/24/22 I would have rated Uvalde as one of the safest places to visit in Southwest Texas. It is a major crossroads of Hwy. 90 and Hwy. 83 It is easy to find your way around town. Most hotels are located on East Main Street, which is Hwy. 90. As are many of the local and chain restarants.

We travel to Uvalde for the late dove season and have done...
We travel to Uvalde for the late dove season and have done so for the past 5 years. We always have a great time and we have certainly enjoyed the city. The city's restaurants, grocery stores, department stores, etc. always provide whatever we might need to sustain our stay. We have never had any problems in Uvalde. The people of Uvalde are very friendly and welcoming.

Nice little town. Restaurants are very good. Jacks steak house highly recommended. A bit pricey but worth the cost. Big portions great steak and shrimp. Close to Garner state park. The Local Fix is our favorite place for coffee and a homemade breakfast. 😁JoanneUnited States of America
