  • Is the hot tub and sauna open? Lots of places are not opening those due to covid. Let me know. Thanks.
Yes, our sauna and outdoor hot tub are open! We are asking guests to social distance, but with only 8 guest rooms that has not ever been an issue.

  • Is age restrictions on booking a room 18 and older?
18 is our minimum age, and we do require a credit card that will cover the entire reservation, although we also accept payments in cash. Thank you!

  • Hello, am I able to smoke somewhere outside on the property? Am I able to go outside to smoke after 11 PM (light sleeper and enjoy cig or two at night
Greetings! Outside smoking is allowed, although was ask you to be away from guest room windows that might be open in the warmer weather. Best option is Rooms 1 or 2 with private decks for smoking, and the common front porch is available if rain.

  • Do you allow dogs
Sorry but we don't allow any pets. We have guests concerned about allergies, plus we have two cats (that don't go in the guest rooms and spend most of their time outside) that don't appreciate the company of other animals around :)

  • Are you Pet Friendly
Sorry we don't accept pets. We do have two cats, but they don't go in the guest rooms in case our guests have allergies.

Maple Hill Farm is a special property with a personal approach for each guest. With only eight guest rooms, we are able to accommodate special requests, each of our guest rooms in unique and we offer a range of amenities to choose from, and your breakfast is cooked to order from a menu each morning. We offer a unique combination of the tranquility of a country inn surrounded by quiet countryside PLUS all the comforts & amenities of a larger hotel. We are very proud of being Maine's first certified "Environmental Leader" in hospitality (starting in 2005) and our "green" practices include both solar & wind power, 100% LED lighting, four electric vehicle charging stations, and many other sustainable practices. We have a wonderful year-round outdoor hot tub and an adjoining sauna building. Some of the rooms feature HUGE private double whirlpool tubs, gas fireplaces, and/or private decks. We offer full bar service in our pub, and there are many other common areas including a Gallery of local artists, a Living Room with a wood-burning fireplace, a Dining Room also with a fireplace, and a common guest kitchen with 24-hour complimentary coffee/tea and home baked goodies. Great WiFi!
Your hosts, Scott and Vince, have owned/created the inn continuously since 1992. We welcome your visit and are always available to answer questions and offer advice about Maine. Scott is a civil engineer with a passion for green energy and other environmental practices, so he has applied himself to the goal of making Maple Hill Farm a recognized leader in sustainability and green energy. He was also an elected State Representative and State Senator and often chaired the Committee on Natural Resources. One of his proudest achievements was when Yankee Magazine recognized Maple Hill Farm as one of "The Best 5 Green Inns and Hotels" in all of New England in 2017. Vince was an experienced electronics repair technician as well as a self-taught cook from a large Maine family. He keeps the kitchen buzzing with activity from breakfast time and catering for all the many events and weddings that are held at the inn every year.
Maple Hill Farm is one of the few alternatives to the many chain hotels located in Augusta, Maine. While we are located just outside of Augusta in the very small city of Hallowell (pop. 2371), we are just four miles from the southernmost I-95 exit for Augusta, our state capital. We are out in the quiet countryside just three miles from the bustling historic district of Hallowell located on the banks of the Kennebec River. This downtown area features a wide variety of popular restaurants, bars, antique and boutique shopping, a community theater, and art galleries. Less than two miles upriver is the State House (our capitol building) in Augusta and four miles downriver is Gardiner. Augusta and Hallowell both feature historic walking/driving tours with informative outdoor signage known as "Museum in the Streets" and there are numerous places to go for walks/hikes including the Jamies Pond Wildlife area adjacent to Maple Hill Farm, Vaughan Woods in Hallowelll, and the Kennebec River Rail trail that runs 6.5 miles from Gardiner to Augusta along the side of the river. Our area is a great hub to explore much of Maine, with the coast, lakes, and mountains all within an hour's drive.
