Wild dolphins and snorkeling await you in these South Kona bays. Nestled in the coffee belt, many sacred sites such as the City of Refuge and Peace Garden invite your exploration. Dive into the clearest waters on the islands – at night with the giant Mantas and by day along the coastline. We’re happy to help plan your trip and share our beach gear or mermaid tails. Previously known as the Areca Palms Estate for 25 years -- it's one of the best B&Bs in the state. We're currently in the process of creating a yoga/meditation area, plunge pool and hot tub in 2016.

Heather is also known as Vyana Mermaid and rents/sells mermaid tails. She loves to take guests on magical snorkel trips in the mornings, assist with tails, mermaid makeovers and making underwater videos. This is where the Kona Mermaid School began. The Mermaid Ambassador Program promotes self-discovery, service and ocean advocacy. She is also a beach clean up steward for All One Ocean. After being an attorney in the San Francisco Bay Area for almost 20 years, she now offers the ancient art of anointing with sacred essential oils. Bud is a retired firefighter, classic bicycle renovator, and professional builder. He is a fabulous cook, keeper of our luscious gardens and can fix just about anything. Both Bud & Heather love to get to know the guests and scuba dive in these pristine blue waters. They were married in Hawaii in 2013 and have one friendly cat together. They recommend beach weddings, family reunions, and various small group retreats at Mermaid Dreams.

The B&B is located in the Kona coffee belt surrounded by quiet lush tropical foliage, wildlife and small towns waiting to be explored. We’re just 15 minutes from the beaches and a pristine marine wildlife refuge. The island offers limitless attractions for visitors of all interests. Sunbathe at white sand beaches, ride mountain bikes to the lava flow at the Volcano, snorkel with sea turtles, tour the coffee farms, dive the clear blue ocean, swim with Manta Rays, tour the Seahorse Farm, rent jet skis. We particularly enjoy the local farmer’s markets and artisan shops. We chose to live on the big island because of its authentic Hawaiian culture. All of our neighbors are Hawaiian. This is also known as the healing island where time slows down and the sacred can be felt all around. Kealakekua means "Pathway to the Gods" or where heaven meets earth. This is called the Big Island for a reason, and you’ll definitely want to rent a car in advance.
