A clean, tidy, comfortable, well-appointed motel with a great location just far enough out of Portland's CBD, but near enough to easily stroll across Burnside to NW 23rd Ave., with its many shops and restaurants. The reception staff were friendly and accommodating, the available parking plentiful (with wonderful suggestions from the staff about secure motorcycle parking), and the city view from the two-storey motel annex across the street is an added bonus. This hotel/motel is very good value for money.

Enjoyed the nature and greenery. Went to Providence Park for Timbers soccer match and would highly recommend. I liked Washington Park with the Japanese Gardens and Rose Test Gardens. Liked walking around Powell's Books. Really enjoyed walking around NW District neighborhood, and eating at Sweet Bacon Cafe and Scottie's Pizza Parlor. Recommend staying at Inn at Northrup Station in NW District or the Tiny Digs Hotels in Kerns neighborhood in East Portland. Enjoyed Screen Door restaurant at East Portland. Trail Blazers Basketball game at Moda Center was fine.
There is a lot of homeless and possible drug use around downtown Pearl District. Never felt threatened or in danger but definitely need to be cautious.

Absolutely loved the country. We saw so much!
Absolutely loved the country. We saw so much! The falls, the coast, the bridges. So incredible. We are not super touristy..so we kept out of the downtown areas. We eat relatively simple so the market was amazing to get most of our food. Getting around in our rental car was so easy. We loved the 55 mph limit on the freeways.
The only downfall that we saw was the unfortunate homeless. Sadly that seems to be everywhere now though. So, we did not let that bother us at all. Everything was amazing.

I know Portland has a stigma attached to it.
I know Portland has a stigma attached to it. I am one who has judged it from afar. In all reality the worst part was driving in the freeway in the rain. Not good for my nerves! We stayed in a B&B In a historic district. Beautiful old homes. There is a mixture of graffiti and businesses that is almost complimentary to each other. We went to a Blazer game with our kids and it was outstanding! Even getting a ride after the game was quick and simple. All in all we weren't there long. The people seemed to be friendly and welcoming. Makes it easier for me to say I would definitely go back.

The area of the Crystal hotel was very close to several other restaurants. Walking was safe to shopping centers. The Crystal ballroom was great and concert was excellent with more events coming daily. Fantastic place. Highly recommended!! Uber pick up was within 3 minutes and affordable. Portland is full of continuous festivals and beautiful places for everyone's liking.
The Viking Motel was a great stay for us. Very clean and comfortable. Really helpful staff. Easy to drive to and good parking. Also, not mentioned in the hotel details, it has a very handy MAX light rail stop which takes you downtown super close (yellow line, Rosa Parks stop), brilliant supermarket also close (New Seasons), lovely park, and a great little neighbourhood (Mississippi) within easy walking distance.
Great location. You can access Forest Park directly from the neighborhood for an early morning hike. Just be prepared for some climbing. You can also access the Forest Park mountain bike/gravel bike trails without having to drive anywhere. You are 15 minutes easy mostly non-highway driving to the Pearl District and downtown. The rest of Portland area attractions are also easily accessible.
This completely renovated, vintage hotel has been masterfully crafted for maximizing room space and comfort. The room wasn't large, but it was fabulous! We really liked how clean and beautiful everything looked. We loved the location for downtown walkability to local breweries, the food court pod (Hawthorne Asylum), etc., but the location also had a downside.
The quality of the rooms makes for a good respite for going about on various adventures about downtown Portland. The café/bar in the lobby has a nice ambiance, and versatile menu...think that I had some sort of seasonal coffee drink before departing for the airport. Access is to/from PDX is very convenient with the Chinatown stop just a block away.
I like the location set in a charming older neighborhood away from the bustle and violence across the river in downtown Portland.
I am a senior but rather enjoyed the clean and minimalist architecture and decor.
The desk staff persons were pleasant.
The spacious lobby was a refreshing alternative to most hotels.
One of the best and believe or not, cheapest hotel, we ever stayed at in USA. Perfect location, in downtown Portland and one block away from the well known, Powell’s City of Books. Nice room with a beautiful bathroom.
Parking garage paid extra, but it wasn’t so much compared to other hotels.
Location was great, easy walking around downtown and close to Pearl district. Room was great, clean etc. Staff were fantastic they let me check-in to my room extremely early since my flight got in very early. They also were accommodating and brought my food delivery up to my room for me, etc.
This hotel is right in the heart of Portland so everything downtown is in walking distance. It's around the corner from Powell's bookstore which was a highlight for me. The hotel is a bit dated but everything is clean and comfortable and the staff are very helpful and friendly.
The Ace hotel is an excellent place to stay. The location was wonderful. Shops and restaurants within a couple blocks. Super safe neighborhood, easy street parking, and the cutest interior. We slept so well and loved our stay in Portland.
The location of this hotel was amazing! Very central to downtown Portland and the staff were so nice and accommodating. The rooms were clean and the hotel cleaning staff were always around when you needed them!
Fantastic hotel. The staff were very nice and the location was great (in the best part of Portland in my view). The room was big and well equipped with 2 TVs, kitchen, cutlery, and coffee machine.
location downtown Portland, we walked to student area and ate at one of several boutique breweries, guy at front desk was hilarious and helpful. valet parking in garage beneath the hotel
The hotel was conveniently located near downtown Portland and accessible to major interstates and sights/sounds/ restaurants. The king size bed was exceptionally comfortable.
Reception staff kindly accepted my check-in even after 11pm
Located in the center of Portland downtown
Great options for breakfast (incl. near cafe, near another Hilton)
Great central location, and the only hotel in this price bracket in the area. Room was large, beds were comfy. Free parking an absolute boon in the downtown area.
