There is a pool table that is free to use, as well as checkers and chess. The bed was very comfortable and the complimentary water was a nice touch. The entrance of the hotel was very elegant and the bartender was friendly and made great drinks! The bathroom had so many amenities besides the usual: Shower Cap, hygiene kit, and extra soaps. The towels were thick and a nice size. Fantastic location near lots of restaurants and Dupont Square. Check out Hank's Oyster Bar for dinner, you won't be disappointed: New England Clam Chowder and BBQ Clams were Amazing!

Our hotel has an intriguing history spanning over 85 years. When The Fairfax opened in 1927, distinguished guests were drawn to its stately elegance. Colonel H. Grady Gore and wife purchased the hotel in 1932, and at this time congressmen, senators, & ambassadors began to make the hotel their permanent residence. Prominent tenants included young Al Gore Jr., Mrs. Henry Cabot Lodge, and Admiral Chester William Nimitz. Young George H. Bush and parents, Senator & Mrs. Prescott Bush, also made The Fairfax home.
