Could you use some more and warmer spectrum lighting in the main suite (it's a bit dim, not much light in the living room area, in general, just an overhead, and the lights are all cool spectrum LEDs), but I've stayed here several times, and like...

The eccentric charm, the comfortable bed, the abundance of foodstuffs for weary, hungry travelers who stumble in too late to get food in town, the washing machine and drier for those same travelers, the family and pet-friendly accommodations, the...

Well stocked pantry if you needed a snack or quick bite to eat. Very comfortable and an amazing view outside of the forest.

Very comfortable room and bed. I thought it was so kind to have a cupboard full of snacks and a binder full of information. The host was so kind and as a solo traveler it was nice to know they were on property.

In 2006, three additional bedroom/bath suites were added - All framed out in steel, not wood. Your Space This suite is a large bedroom (one king bed + one folding, roll-away cot) and bathroom. No common areas exist in the main house. No formal kitchen is in the suite, but there is a bar area with some basic kitchen functions - small refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, etc. You may use any supplies in the bar area. Complimentary snacks & beverages provided. Please Note... - All reservations for 3 persons or less, including children. Additional people may be turned away. - Only 1 dog allowed; It may not be left unattended in suite. - Only 1 king bed and 1 small folding, roll away twin cot are available. - Check-in is after 4 PM; Checkout is before 11 AM. - There is NO full kitchen. - Guests must acknowledge welcome msg.
We have both lived in Central California since the 1970's. Originally, we came to the area to attend nearby Universities --- Aaron attending the University of California at Santa Cruz, and Lynn attending the Monterey Institute of International Studies in Monterey. Aaron is from Southern California (a "SoCal Refugee" is what he calls himself), while Lynn is a native of New York City ('nuf said!). We met in Monterey in the mid-nineties and have been together since. Aaron is retired from Federal Government service, where he worked for 25 years on marine fisheries, conservation, and reserves. Lynn is retired from the international import/export/retail business. Both of us are well traveled, and understand the needs and wishes of travelers. Aaron has lived in Asia and Africa for a total of about five years, besides traveling throughout most of the rest of the world. Lynn was a international buyer for a large import company in San Francisco. While in that position, Lynn specialized in South Asian and Eastern European imports, traveling extensively throughout those areas. Looking forward to your visit!
Arnold is a small community in the Sierra Mountains of California. Arnold sits on Highway 4 that transverses the Sierras from the western foothills east through Ebbetts Pass National Scenic Byway towards Nevada. Just uphill from Arnold is Bear Valley ski resort, and just downhill is Murphy's and the Calaveras winery area. Arnold is surrounded by the Stanislaus National Forest, with all of it's recreational amenities (hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, etc.).
