Amukela Kaya, means "welcome to our home", in Xitsonga. The cottage is now solar powered with backup batteries. Situated in the Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate, close to the green belt offers privacy and opportunity to absorb the beauty of the bush. Immerse yourself in nature and enjoy the natural music; the animals calling out, the beautiful bird song, the distant howl of the hyena and if you are lucky the coughing of the leopard. Take in the sights of the warthogs wallowing, the shy duiker braving the open and the impala locking horns. Amukela Kaya.
We will be readily available during your stay, we are only a call or a step away to assist in any way. We absolutely love the bush and cannot wait to share our beautiful surroundings with you, our guests.
The Wildlife Estate offers good walking and cycling trails in and around the greenbelt. Being close to the small town, Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate is well situated for quick drive to any one of our superb restaurants in and around town. Entry to the Greater Kruger for self-drive game viewings is by Orpen Gate which is roughly an hour’s drive from Hoedspruit. Other big five reserves in the area also offer game drives by appointment. There are many places of interest close by. Contact one of our local tour guides for a day out to enjoy the Panorama Route. Visit the Blyde River Canyon, Bourke’s Luck Potholes, Pilgrim’s Rest, God’s Window and the various spectacular waterfalls in the area. Take a day trip to Graskop, a quaint little town in Mpumalanga and eat at the famous Harrie’s Pancakes. This is where you can take the Graskop Gorge lift that descends into the depth of the beautiful gorge where you can explore the indigenous forest below. Visit Jessica the Hippo, Moholoholo Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre, Hoedspruit Reptile Centre, to name but a few.
