Loved the options for breakfast even though am not a big eater. Maybe suggest a small fresh option with the omelettes: fresh tomato/herbs/; room was private and cozy. very amused with the motivational plague along the steps..

I've read a few reviews prior to our stay and was concerned about all the steps I'd have to climb to reach the Guesthouse. But in all honesty it wasn't that bad. I am by no means fit and was huffing and puffing when I reached the top but it was...

This is a gem. It's older, it has character. The Host DD is a God sent woman of note! This place has a view that will reorient your life view. It's really nice, warm, friendly, authentic, real. It's best described as an antique that is used daily...

Company info

Taryn and Andrew started Bluebottle Guesthouse 19 years ago. Taryn is a designer and illustrator and Andrew has been involved in the hotel & tourism industry since he left school. They both enjoy surfing and nature. They have combined Taryn's designing skills and my hotel skills to offer a relaxed and informal atmosphere with elegant touches. Bluebottle is uniquely positioned on a mountain slope and is only accessed by stairs. Andrew is a butterfly expert and devotes a lot of his time to butterfly conservation.

Property info

Situated high up on the mountain slope, Bluebottle Guesthouse has amazing sea, lagoon and mountain views. Each room is spacious and light and has balcony access through glass sliding doors or french wooden doors. Part of the charm of Bluebottle Guesthouse are the 131 stairs that lead you through an indigenous landscaped hillside to the front door.

Neighborhood info

Muizenberg is home to bohemians, artists and entrepreneurs. The beachfront is a haven for surf families on the weekend and surf school during the week. One of the longest, safest white beaches in the world is reaching its potential at last with restaurants, coffee shops and surf schools abounding. Several art galleries, theatres and antique shops are available for the more sophisticated. There are mountains to climb, dams to swim in and rivers to paddle on. Muizenberg has something for everyone!
