The Retreat is a collection of basic farm labourers cottages set in a lovely garden within the working part of the Boschendal farm. It was nice to walk around and see the farm animals and orchards. Excellent friendly staff were on hand for security and to serve breakfast in the dining room. The cottages are basic but very comfortable and fully stocked for self catering. We had a weber BBQ one night with food bought from the little shop at the main area of Boschendal which is about 3,5km away.

Great outdoor facilities with seating on the terrace and a braai (go to the Farm Shop and have a braai for dinner - the meat at Boschendal is wonderful!) The porters that take you to and from the main farm to the Cottages are great and really convenient. Pool area is also lovely and serene. Breakfast at the Werf is incredible!

Guest accommodation is a recent addition to the farm with luxury accommodation ranging from the historical Herbert Baker designed Cottage 1685 to beautifully restored farm labourer cottages. With an emphasis on stylish simplicity, the guest cottages are authentic, rural yet contemporary in character.
