This historic Cape Georgian guesthouse in central George offers full English breakfast and rooms with antique furniture and high ceilings. It features a town garden and saltwater pool. Fairview Historic Homestead’s bright, charming rooms have white linens and antique wood furniture. Each includes satellite TV and a coffee maker. Some offer a fireplace or private garden. We bought Fairview in 1994. The restoration and upkeep of this 1861 listed building has been an ongoing labour of love. We are so thankful that the grounds remained large enough to allow the house a garden it deserves too. It was wonderful to have our children grow up in a home with such a sense of history – we very much feel ourselves custodians of Fairview. In the blog category 'My Guest House Life' on our website, I share the stories of a house and garden, lovingly restored and shared with our guests. . Fairview Homestead is a guest house in B&B style – that means we, the owners, live on the premises. Our guest rooms are private, but we have a communal lounge/dining room for the guests. In summer breakfast is served on the back porch and in winter we light the fire in the dining room.Our garden is an attraction in its own right and often used as a wedding photography venue.
Desmond is a medical doctor who spends every spare minute either gardening or fishing. Philda runs the guest house and spends every spare minute playing with the grandchildren!
Fairview Homestead is the original farmhouse on which the suburb Bergsig was later developed. Do consider staying in George for more than one night as we are very conveniently situated for visiting all the wonderful places in the Garden Route. George is situated on a low plateau between the sea 8 km to the south and nestled at the base of the George and Cradock peaks, both of which are higher than Table Mountain. George is the ideal base from which to explore the Garden Route … Beaches, lakes, mountains and rivers offer visitors an unforgettable holiday; for everyone from the very adventurous to those who prefer to relax in the sun, stroll through cool forests or take scenic day drives. And home to some of the finest golf courses in South Africa. We are 8 km from Victoria Bay (our closest beach) 12 km from Wilderness as well as Herold’s Bay, 25 km from Sedgefield, 60km from Mossel Bay, 60km from Knysna, 90 km from Plettenberg Bay and 15 km from George Airport.
