A quaint village with great character. I always go to the iron crown to have their Haenertsburer which is made from 100% local ingredients, and a locally brewed Zwakala lager. The coffee shops are legendary with artisanal bakes and coffee. I take a run early along the main road which is safe.
I personally need to spend more time here!!!

I absolutely love Haenertsburg/Magoebaskloof.
I absolutely love Haenertsburg/Magoebaskloof. It is one of the most beautiful areas in the country. The locals are warm and friendly and there is so much to do. The Eatery on Rissik has the most amazing breakfast! Caffe Villa Trattoria has some of the best Pizza i've ever had and Pot and Plow is the coziest Pub.

This was my first visit to Haenertsburg and I am so glad I decided to visit this stunning place.
The people are friendly, the place is safe and located in a beautiful area. I think one must just take some time before one travels to familiarise yourself with the area because one can easily be overwhelmed with all the stuff there is to do and see when you get there.
Haenertsburg itself is a little "park-and-walk" kind of village. You don't really need to drive around in the village itself. Everything is within walking distance.

Nice and cosy but poor service in most places, hardly any decent place to eat (Pancake House is OK). Pennefather Caffè offers the worst espresso, coffee, mochaccino, etc. ever in South Africa (usually poor every where, milk too hot and coffee to weak and poor quality!). The breakfast was not great either and very heavy (omelette).
Otherwise all the normal omnipresent gift and curio shops which never survive for long. Typical lack of phantasy. One place sticks out, a pottery that offers self made articles some very nice.

it is a beautiful part of South Africa, but I would strongly suggested that you travel in a vehicle with a reasonable road clearance due to the dirt roads which you use. Some places are not operational anymore and the others which are, charge an entrance fee. A must visit is Zikwala brewery.

What a picture perfect little village!
What a picture perfect little village! The most gorgeous hiking trails and perfectly safe for people traveling alone. The restaurants serve the most delicious food and the service was excellent in each one I visited (6 in total). People are friendly and very helpful.
Remoteness of the location, being alone on the property, views of the mountains, the sound of birds in the morning and monkeys calling in the late afternoons and the clear starry skies at night- PRICELESS!
The place has Solar power which meant that we did not have load shedding. Well equipped Kitchen for Self-catering. Wi-fi available.
10minutes drive to the Blueberry Farm Cafe for some delicious blueberry muffins and 15minutes to the Small Haenertsburg village for some "small" town shopping and lunch.
Hosts Marion and Eric warmly welcomed us to their awesome guesthouse that incorporates an art/pottery/stained glass studio, filled with inspiring objets d'art everywhere. They were helpful and informative, promptly sending a PIN location for our swimming event in the nearby Ebenezer Dam and suggesting hiking routes the next day in the stunning hills and forests surrounding Haenertsburg, a little gem of a town. Our hosts were always on hand to respond to our needs, but never intrusive.
We came to Haenertsburg to cool down from the hot climate in mid-Kruger Park.
The historic character of the former gold mining town is well preserved in the hotel and with great attention to detail.
The friendliness of the owners and their assistance and advice.
We walked the beautiful walking trail next to the hotel through the original grasslands. They prepared us a takeaway lunch and coffee. We also had good food - grilled trout, and drinks in the Iron Crown nearby.
A fabulous B&B set in an old officers mess, gloriously restored and updated with modern furniture and fittings. The views over the valley and Haenertsburg are superb. Breakfast is excellent. The room is very comfortable and quite luxurious. The staff are very helpful. The proprietor especially so with suggestions about what to do, where to go etc.
This place exceeded my expectations. It is an outstanding place to stay. A real gem.
Loved the tranquil atmosphere. The chalet was nice and clean with a beautiful view of the dam.
The staff is very friendly.
We enjoyed watching the horses, and the ducks on the dam, also was lucky to see the zebra.
Silvermist is ideally placed close to other visitors attractions and restaurants in Haenertsburg.
We enjoyed our stay and will definitely visit again.
I was welcomed by the host upon my arrival. Had a great chat and was shown around the place and room. Great communication and lovely recommendations for activities as well! (hike around town and restaurants). The room was perfect for my short stay, but would also have been good for a longer stay. Breakfast was no-nonsense but adequate for my roadtrip!
Wonderful location in the tiny village of Haenertzburg.
Warm welcome from the manager Matthew and got some fantastic tips on where to eat and what to do around town.
A very well marked 11km loop for those looking to do a scenic hike. Really don’t have to be super fit to tackle it.
Just love the house and garden. Feels like a home away from home!
Love that we can sit in the lounge with a fire crackling in the fireplace.
Definitely my favorite place in Haenertsburg.
Thank you for a lovely weekend.
Very nice cosy cottage. All what you need for a few days. I missed nothing at all. Nice place to explore the beautiful area. Haenertsburg is very close with little shops and cafes. I would come back every time. Thanks
Great cabin with everything that is needed. Beautiful views all around. Rejoice and Antoinette was friendly and accommodating from the very start as our hosts. We are looking forward to go back to Imofo.
Good communication with Matthew who was very welcoming. The studio is in really good shape, nice clean, tidy and a great atmosphere. Haenertsburg is a calm little town with a lot of friendly people.
Location was perfect for exploring Magoebaskloof and surrounding areas. Accommodation was neat, clean and comfy. Beautiful farm setting with ample walking paths throughout the farm.
The view was so nice! The quiet environment was just what we needed. And all the animals was a bonus. We also liked it to walk around on the farm and taking nice pictures.
Although compact, the unit offered us everything we needed, and more. We regularly make weekend trips to Haenertsburg, and Viewpoint will now be our go to choice.
