The location, the friendly staff, the property is beautiful. They arranged a nice big room because we traveled with a baby, which was wonderful with our own private terrace to enjoy at night while the baby slept. The bed was great, the sheets too. The place was really clean and they staff was really friendly and helpful with lots of things. We really enjoyed our stay and definitely would go back!

JH owner/manager was the quintessential host. From the greeting at the door with a mocktail/cocktail to the guided tour and making sure we were settled. It's the little things that make all the difference -- the rooms that had all the adapters for my US 2 prong plugs into SA 3 prong sockets to the WIFI that was 70 MBs + Blazing fast allowing me to work productively. The luxury bath was large enough for two to swim in :-) and while the Mansion may have been older architecture the mattresses were the most comfortable orthopedically flawless newer design. The sprawling grounds were well maintained and large automated gates closed in feeling like you were in your own private paradise. Since this was an old mansion - the beauty and quality of the solid woods spoke of architecture and quality of a bygone era....that is kept alive by JH to share with the rest of us. We would be back in a heartbeat.

It is an outstanding property of about 12000 squaremeters with view of the famous Knysna lagoon. There is a park-like garden with a pool, a fountain and a gazebo. The charming manor house brings you back to a long gone era of true hospitality.
I love South Africa and its people. The country is the most beautiful one in the world and the people are warmhearted and friendly. There are so many things to do: an adventurous safari deep in the African bush, a walk through the indigenous forests along the Garden Route, a leisure day on the endless golden beaches, a horse-ride in the spectacular mountains, a visit to the world-class vineyards and restaurants, a chat with the locals from various places and a trip to the most exciting cities of Cape Town and Johannesburg.
The famous Knysna lagoon is at the doorstep with all kinds of watersport activites - even beaches. The sea is a few minutes by car - also with outstanding beaches. The center of town and waterfront is a 15min walk away.
