The Pilansberg is great for Fauna & Flora. We always have good animal & bird sightings.
The condition of many of the roads is appalling and not comfortable in a normal sedan vehicle.
The Camping facilities at Bakgatla are adequate with good shade but not much grass.
However, the Chalet we used was terrible. R10k for three nights - the Aircon didn't work at all(in 37deg heat),the Stove didn't work. The Tap on the sink was literally falling off.The Fridge wasn't very efficient.
No Shower and the bath was designed for a midget & it was dirty because the surface was badly stained.
One toilet for five people - not good enough for R3k a night.

The staff and service were amazing.
The staff and service were amazing. Always helpful and polite. The manager Karel was also very helpful and went out of his way to please us. He took us on some amazing game drives.
The hotel is old and tired and the rooms are dirty. The mats by the bed were filthy and torn as well as the mat in the bathroom which also needed a clean.
The food was very average and we were also served left overs on one of the days we were there. Unless there is an upgrade to the premises I cannot see us going back anytime soon

Once one we were in the sanctuary of the Black Rhino Lodge, all was fantastic. Getting there and back by road was unpleasant. The surrounding areas are poverty stricken and the roads in a poor state.
Unforunately, there is no longer an airport in the area.

Although the roads aren't in the best shape, it helps one to drive slowly, to enjoy the bush and all it has to offer. The "Friends of Pilansberg" try very hard to maintain the roads. The "Bush" takes care of the rest!!
We loved the fact thay from the day we arrived we didn't have the need to drive anywhere. Everything was provided from 3 meals a day, to 2 daily game drives to very comfortable rooms where we could relax and calm down.
Our game driver was Dolfie. He was by far the best we have experienced in all our game visits. We have done many game drives all over South Africa and by a country mile was the best. The hotel must look after him, he was such a treasure for us as a family. My daughter and women loved him. Thank you Dolfie
The property is beautiful, very clean , The location is excellent! The food was amazing !
The staff were all super friendly and made us all feel very comfortable and welcome at all times.
A special thanks to Alex for some really good game trips he is so knowledgeable and I can certainly say he is absolutely one of the best game rangers we have ever had in Pilansberg and to Amos for getting to know us all by name and always striving to give us 5 star service on the restaurant side. We will certainly be back soon.
The design, location and privacy of these villas is five star. With a heated pool on the most amazing patio overlooking the Pilansberg we were able to relax in complete privacy, even seeing a hippo in the small dam in front of the unit. We also loved that we could walk within the resort (something not really safe to do in other bush villas) and make use of the resorts lively amenities … the restaurant, tennis courts, gym, boma, game drives ect. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back.
The staff was largely superb, although not everyone speaks fluent English.
Breakfast is a high point: each day is different, and dietary restrictions are requested and followed (e.g. one can ask for no beef, no pork, etc.)
Some rooms are in separate apartments near the swimming pool.
Bathrooms are large w/ large showers.
Near Pilansberg Park and Sun City.
Extra secure entrance to room w/ locking gate as well as door.
Refrigerator and coffee materials in room. Air conditioning.
Location is great- directly located at the edge from Pilanesberg National Park.
They had a waterhole close to the pool and we were lucky enough to see 2 rhinos on our first day.
Our safari guide Lou was very friendly and helpful. The game drives (safari) are included in the price (one in the morning the other one in the afternoon).
Roooms were spacious and had a huge bed, with nice view. Housekeeping did a great job keeping everything clean.
As much as I would like to keep this place secret, I must say that this was heaven! Beautiful rooms with a terrasse overlooking the park, the pool is small but lovely. The hotel was running at full capacity when we were there but it still felt very exclusive. And don’t get me started about the food which was divine… A big thanks to Piet who was very welcoming! and have a massage: amazing!
Love the staff! Everyone is so friendly, from the moment we entered the hotel to the moment we checked out. Very thoughtful people. Restaurant staff are lovely - food was amazing! The safaris are out of this world - our guide, Freedom, was awesome. We saw the Big 4 out of 5 on our safari. And despite coming in winter, the room was incredibly well insulated! Loved it!
Absolutely beautiful, immaculate, the rooms are 5 star, but what sets this lodge apart is the service. So ready to assist in any way and the big smiles and kind hearts of all from front desk to restaurant to cleaning. Tanya our driver was so smart well informed fun and made my whole safari experience something I will never forget. Thank you !! From Kentucky USA.
The breakfast was on par with most hotels, guest houses. I enjoyed the peacefulness and no rushing of all things.
Game drives were well organised and informative. The park was a pleasure to drive through even if we did not see some animals we would have liked to see. The staff we all very helpful and willing to go the extra mile.
This is my second visit here in just under a year and I live in Australia so you know this place is very special. The accommodation is perfect, the staff are amazing and the food is divine. The game in the national park is incredible and the hotels highly experienced rangers help you really appreciate it.
located in the Pilansberg game reserve is remote from the hustle and bustle of city life, but close enough to drive (2hours from Pretoria).
The lodge is well maintained and the staff are very helpful and courteous
Staff was outstanding. Even got lucky and had a private safari morning ride. Room was insane and luxurious! This place was epic. Here is a video. https://www.instagram.com/reel/CpBSuHko1jT/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
The hotel is amazing, the Crew is very gently and the position is a dream! I’ll come back soon! I’ll fly from Italy again just to be in this amazing place!
