The suite was in fact a room with a bathroom. The room was over cluttered. Comfort was secondary to creating an “authentic” setting. The double bed was old fashioned and uncomfortable. The loo was outside the bedroom door which meant navigating a lot of obstacles in order to access it. There were no comfortable chairs to sit on.

Friendly and professional staff. Great dining experience. Lovely food.

The Witchery is likely unparalleled. Right from the moment you book you are treated like an esteemed guest. The staff was so incredible kind, especially Paul. Paul was able to accommodate a sudden change in plans (I was booked for two nights and ended up needing three), and did so in a manner that was flawless and saw me roomed back to back without having to wait for the official check-in time. The entire staff is lovely and absolute gracious. I imagine they would be able to fulfil any need. I was there during the coronation and they made sure to inform me, and were also available to assist with logistics should I need help. The rooms are stunning - I stayed in both the Old Rectory and the Sempill. Both were unbelievable and well serviced. The Old Rectory overlooks the Royal Mile and is at the foot of the castle - it contains three rooms, all of which are comfortable and well stocked. My favourite aspect of this room was the bathroom, and the view. The bed was very comfortable, and the desk was well placed and perfect for work. The Sempill is like your own flat, which multiple rooms and a long hallway. It is extremely well stocked and contains a kitchenette. The entrance is in a private close and just down the street a bit from the main Witchery building. The food is incredible. The breakfast, which is complimentary, is genuinely stunning. You will not go hungry in the mornings. They provide a room service option that is more basic, but both were absolutely wonderful. I was a huge fan of the Witchery Tea Blend, and probably drank my weight in tea during my stay. I can't describe how worth it the breakfast is. I do believe you get your money's worth staying here - between the comfort of the rooms, the food, and the incredible staff, you can't go wrong.

We felt like we went back in time with the wonderful decor of our room. We stayed in the Guard room. This is a must to stay in Edinburgh! Also, be sure to eat at the Secret Garden restaurant. It is an experience in itself with amazing food and ambiance. We will definitely visit again. Loved everything about the Witchery Hotel. Thank you to the staff and the owner for creating such a unique Hotel. Loved our stay.

We stayed in the Herriot Suite which had an amazing bathroom and very comfortable four poster bed and lovely seating area. The room was very clean, with very soft, fluffy bath towels. Even though it is in the centre of the city we had a great night's sleep, the room was really quiet. They have put gluten free cookies in our room which was a nice touch. Breakfast was delicious and freshly cooked and they had gluten free haggis and black pudding which was a real treat.

No parking or help with figuring out parking. Had to use a parking lot which cost a lot of money.

Beautiful room, very friendly staff. Lots of little suprises and goodies.

    Nothing.

Unique experience as if travels back in history and stays in another century but still maintains the modern comfort. Staff all helpful and make sure we have everything. Love the space in our room with its own dining room having a choice of breakfast delivered. Every room is of different decoration, can‘t wait to go again and discover.

Correspondence of woman of receptionist is not good enough. Thanks to the staff for carrying our luggage up the steep stairs.

Both breakfast and dinner were excellent. Especially the men's service was the best. Women are not good enough.

    above comments

it was dramatic in feel and look. at 795 for a night there were things missing ! no option for drink in the room regardless if it was a further costs. cookies half eaten in a jar. was very poor … much positive but could be much better ! tv was rubbish , but overall the feel was different due to the atmosphere and building ! I was able to blank out the irritants and focus on the pleasure of being in a time warp of old ! loved it but if you want that kind of money for a night ! step it up … t x

Really nothing. The charm of the bathroom was the clawfoot tub; unfortunately, that can be hard to take a shower.

EVERYTHING! Staff was outstanding, they would do anything to make your stay perfect. The building is quite mysterious and it was fun to watch all the tourists taking pictures of our Close and then we got to unlock the gate and go in. ha! :)

Best place we have stayed at. Beautiful rooms and the staff are so friendly. We parked our car at their sister hotel and got a complimentary taxi to the witchery. Nice vegan breakfast. We will be staying again 🙂
