VietnamThere were no separate shower cubicles or currents so there was no privacy when showering.
Bed had curtain and was comfortable. Location was great with easy access to the main shopping street.

United KingdomBathrooms should have more lights and it would be good to have more light options in the room as well. I was in a female dormatory room and I would prefer to have a big mirror in the room.
I loved their decoration, food, bar. Rooms are good.

United KingdomI didn't mind, as actually enjoyed the music - but as generally pointed out: there is loud music (DJ) playing downstairs on weekend nights until 11.30 pm ish. (Ear plugs are provided free if charge). Don't be put off by outside appearances of the property - it's the inside that counts!
What an amazing place! I loved the arty and vibrant feel and generous space. The facilities were clean and generally well attended to (with the exception of lack of loo roll one morning). I stayed in a 6-bed all-female dorm and would do that again next time. My fellow travellers were friendly and very considerate l, quiet and tidy. There are lockers in the room that can be pad-locked (for your valuables), but I left my other possessions in the key-entry room. There are very comfortable communal areas to hang out in, both in the reception/main area and on the corridor. You can also spend quiet time in your room, as the beds have curtains (lower bunk) and boards (top bunk) for extra privacy (more so on the lower bunks). Definitely recommend this place for a funky, value-for-money stay for all ages (though note the DJ/loud music on Fri and Sat nights until 11/11.30 pm I spent there). The hard-working reception staff are helpful and friendly, despite their long work hours, and helped navigating the public bus system and booking airport transfers for me.

GermanyIt was LOUD, the garden and bar are directly below and even on a higher floor it might be very tough for you to sleep. They offer free ear plugs to help, but it's still not great for light sleepers.
The place is well-designed, the staff is incredibly friendly, and the spacious bathrooms are amazing. The location is good, close to bus stop 12, where a lot of the tour busses leave from.

United StatesIt was very difficult to find the front door since it's next door/sharing a wall with a building that's being demolished. It was incredibly noisy. The beds are numbered top to bottom instead of bottom to top, so I was on the bottom bunk but the person who was assigned the bunk above me misunderstood and put her belongings on my bed and took a nap in my sheets. It was very difficult to organize getting a replacement set of sheets. Also, people come and go and are not respectful of those who are already asleep. It's noisy, loud, lots of light, and very short on space, next to nowhere to charge your phone. The bathrooms were not very clean or stocked with soap and toilet paper. The locker where you're supposed to put your stuff is very tiny and in essence useless. When I asked someone at the bar if I could have a glass of water he said it was against the law to say no. That was very confusing to me. I asked if it was okay if I could have a glass of water and he repeated that it was against the law for him to say no so I could go ahead and get myself a glass of water. Kind of a strange way to show hospitality.
Thomas was very professional and kind and helpful. The Kex Hostel has a unique vibe, food and drink on the premises, and near to walking along the water.

United StatesI'm 73 so, ... dragging luggage up and down stairs, my problem, not yours. I could have used a little more introduction to the facility, a short paper handout would be fine. The building next door is unfortunate and misrepresents you. A number of lockers in rooms were broken. I lost an insta360 X3 camera while there. Maybe at the hostel, maybe not. I couldn't find another way to let you know, so I'm putting it here. If someone turns in a found camera, it contains all my photos from Reykjavik, so I would love to have it back. if it turns up, please let me know. I was in room 315 bed 4 that first night and room 317 bed 4 the 2nd, so you know it's me. Thank you for a good stay.
The lounge / restaurant / common space was comfortable and large enough that different groups could each engage, and still, there was room for others. The menu was right and reasonably priced. I particularly appreciate the extra electrical outlets in the lounge around, maybe other areas as well.

United StatesThe bunkbed dorm was OK. I didn't feel comfortable showering there though...looked a bit grimy. The vibe was interesting (in a good way) but having a DJ there every night wasn't helpful when I was jetlagged and wanted to go to bed early.
The bar and the breakfast were great. The location was absolutely perfect -- right on the water and walking distance to everything I wanted to do in Reykjavík. They had a secure area to keep my bags before I was able to check in. Customer service was decent though not warm.

United KingdomWas placed right next to the door in the 42 bed room, with the door being quite loud it was difficult to get proper rest. The bed was also very squeaky and private bathrooms got very dirty. Over the weekend music kept going until about midnight which could be heard all the way in the bedrooms.
Great location, only a 2 minute walk to the Main Street. Outside seating area, bar with more affordable food options relative to Reykjavik, many spaces to relax whether you want somewhere private or with other travellers.

GermanyYou had to walk with luggage upstairs because there is no elevator. I didn't really have a problem with that but maybe some peolpe would.
The check-in was super easy, the service was always really friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed the restaurant they have in the lobby - the pizza was great. The atmosphere is really great, I didn't expect that from as hostel to be honest.
