In the heart of the historic village of Laxton, The Dovecote Inn is a charming traditional inn offering fine food and rooms that are spacious and full of character. Wi-fi is free.

Sherwood Forest, home of Robin Hood, is a 15 minutes’ drive from The Dovecote Inn and Nottingham can be reached in 45 minutes by car.

Beautiful pub in lovely countryside. Driving up to it through the rolling hills and seeing it appear in the distance, standing in the shade of two majestic pine trees, fills your heart with joy and anticipation. We were not disappointed. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Tasty menu including veggie choices, good portions and nicely presented. The room was spacious, clean and very quiet with a comfortable bed and excellent reading lights. All spaces are very tastefully decorated. We feel that the photos online don’t do it enough justice.

I had a lovely stay at the The Forest Lodge. I had dinner at the pub on both nights that I was there, and the menu had a good range of choices. Breakfast was also really good. My room was comfy and had what I needed. Even though it was by the road, it was nice and quiet. Very friendly staff that made me feel very welcome as a solo traveller.

Nice full English breakfast was available and was cooked to order. Was not there for dinner so can't comment on that. The room was a bit outdated and could do with an upgrade but it was clean and was quite sufficient for what we needed. Our room towels and drinks were also replaced even though we hadn't requested it which was a bonus! We were attending the local 3 day music festival so the location was excellent for this!
