  • We felt welcome the moment we walked through the door. The staff and local customers were all so friendly. The whole Inn has a warm and friendly atmosphere. The food was delicious and the bar is cosy with the open fire. Our room was well equipped with all the essentials and the bed was so comfortable. We didn't want to go home!

  • breakfast was brillant value for money, also had dinner there...well presented and was ws very comfortable (stayed in the cottage) very warm. very clean. very comfortable

  • The location is outstanding. From the hotel you can take the most beautiful walks in a rural landscape. And yet, if you prefer shopping and the city you can easily get to Lewes and Brighton. The food offered at the Chequers Inn restaurant is good price/quality with a nice range of starters and mains. The room and bathroom was convenient and spacious with a very comfortable bed.

  • Welcoming and helpful staff. A fair sized room with a view over the sun terrace and herb garden and a comfortable bed. Good dinner and choice of breakfast.

  • Staff very welcoming although they were clearly understaffed - Andy who I think was the Assistant Manager - was especially hospitable and helpful. Very pleasant, comfortable room overlooking the garden. Plenty of hanging space & hangers for clothing. Iron & ironing board included. Bed extremely comfortable. We stayed 2 nights and ate both nights in the restaurant - food was nothing exceptional but good, homely pub style and price very reasonable.. They do a lovely rhubarb gin & tonic to enjoy before dinner!
