He also helped us by talking to the bank teller to break down large notes and took us to a restaurant with great vegetarian food. He also prepared us a vegetarian breakfast. The location is nice and quiet and you can hear the birds when you up. He is knowledgeable about Nubian culture and also organizes trips down the Nile. Crocodiles, birds, food, there is a lot more to Abu Simbel than just the temple. Longer stays recommended for those looking for an off the beaten track experience.

Set 15 km from Aga Khan Mausoleum, Kamel House offers accommodation with a balcony, as well as a garden. There is an on-site restaurant and free private parking. The bed and breakfast offers a hot tub and a 24-hour front desk. It's a lovely place with very nice hosts. Mohamed and Fatima are the best people I met in Egypt. The location might seem far away from Aswan city center, but it is very close to the airport. Mohamed also can drive you to anywhere you want at anytime. And unlike other hotels in Nubian village center, you don't need to ride a few kilometres of dirt road to get there. Kamel house is just around 100 meter away from asphalt road, very easy accessible. We also had dinner prepared by Fatima. Food was very delicious. She also prepared breakfast for us at 4 am for our Abu Simbel tour and before our flight. We booked the Abu Simbel transfer from them, it's AC medium bus, very comfortable. Not the no-AC minivan. All in all, this is the place I would recommend to anyone who is coming to Aswan and wants to experience living in local village. It's definitely a nice experience. Don't expect fancy and modern hotel, but you will not regret. I am very happy that I spent money here in the local village rather than in a five-star hotel chain.

It is a very nice place, located on the top of the hill next to the nubian village, it is very clean, the view over the Nile is incredible. The rooms are nicely decorated in nubian style. They have a pool, which was not really clean but in this time anyway is cold to enter in it. Be aware that is very difficult to reach the hotel, the taxi drivers don’t know the way until there as many of the guest houses are called in the nubian village Kato( which means house). Coming by taxi after you cross the high dam you must take the road to the left right before you enter the nubian village. Easier is to tell the taxi to bring you to the nubian village, inform the hotel to send a tuktuk to pick you up ( it is free of charge). The place is very quiet, isolated from the world and it is a perfect getaway if you need peace. The desert and the view from your room is impressive. We stayed unfortunately only for one night, but it was like a fairytale.

The place itself is gorgeous, very clean, and complete with scenic views of the Nile. I woke up to a breakfast on a shaded balcony beholding green Nile farmland and delicate feleucas cruising the waterways. Our room itself was spacious, decorated with a cedar wardrobe and chest, and possessed AC. The bathroom was huge and contained a bathtub with jets. Moreover, every person on staff was exceedingly friendly and polite, going above and beyond to make us feel at home. We found them to be trustworthy and genuinely kind. This is my husband's second time staying here, since he liked it so much; we hope to come again in the future!
