Located within 4.1 km of Jigokudani Monkey Park and 10 km of Ryuoo Ski Park in Yamanouchi, Yorozuya features accommodation with seating area. The indoor bath was amazing - spacious and the hot spring was hot. Perfect temperature. The open-air bath was nice, but the hot spring was lukewarm. I guess it was because the weather outside is too cold?! The lobby and seating areas are very relaxing and beautiful. The ryokan let guests take photos of the indoor and open-air baths before check-out at 10am.

A 5-minute walk from Yudanaka Train Station, Tawaraya offers Japanese-style accommodations with free Wi-Fi and a flat-screen TV. We had a great stay at the Tawaraya Ryokan. Excellent and friendly service. We loved the outdoor hot spring bath that could be reserved privately for each room. The breakfast and dinner in the hotel are excellent, best we had on our two week Japan trip.

Aburaya Tousen offers luxurious contemporary Japanese-style accommodation with an amazing 11 types of hot-spring baths and free WiFi. The room included a sauna and a private onsen on the balcony. Right after seeing the room and the facilities we decided to extend our stay for another night to enjoy the place and the onsen. We had a private dinner with good food selection (the staff also introduced us to every Japanese dish that we were served and made suggestions for the next day's dinner). The owner of the hotel was also very nice and joined us for dinner.

Located in Yamanouchi, 4.3 km from Jigokudani Monkey Park, 塵表閣本店 features accommodation with a hot spring bath, a hot tub and a public bath. I liked the dog so much ! I love waking up to the snow every morning and they welcome me with a warm coffee. They felt like a family to me. I enjoyed staying with them. They tried their best to understand English and they were very hospitable. Thank you!

志賀高原 白い温泉 渓谷の湯 in Yamanouchi provides adults-only accommodation with an open-air bath and a shared lounge. The accommodation has a spa bath and a private open-air bath. The room was very tastefully designed with authentic Ryokan styles but had modern comforts. The sitting area had a full height window looking out into the snow covered trees and stream and was like looking at a beautiful painting. At night we left the window open a small amount just to hear the running water of the stream which was amazing. The onsen in the room was just a large bath tub but fed by the Sulphur onsen water and had a large window that could be opened (although at the time ours was iced up so unable to open). The public onsen was very beautiful with a outside onsen looking over the creek running down the back of the property and nothing but snow covered trees. Beds were very comfortable with nice thick pillows. Breakfast and dinners were served in a common dining hall but each table had its own fully separated and private booths. And the food was amazing every time, we never left anything on our dishes. Very close to several ski lifts and gondolas and had a very nice dry room.

Hotarutei Villas provides a hot spring bath and free private parking, and is within 4.4 km of Jigokudani Monkey Park and 14 km of Ryuoo Ski Park. Staying here was a truly relaxing experience. The private onsen was a highlight, complemented by the beautiful space and friendly service. The living room and patio offered stunning views, creating the perfect setting to unwind. The location was also ideal, being close to the base of Monkey Park and the bus stop. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Located in Yamanouchi, within 20 km of Jigokudani Monkey Park and 29 km of Ryuoo Ski Park, Hotel Khuls Shigakogen provides accommodation with a restaurant and free WiFi as well as free private parking... Great access to slopes, friendly staff, great food.

Providing mountain views, Hotel Higashidate is located in Yamanouchi and provides a wellness area with a sauna and a hot spring bath. Such an amazing location in ShigaKogan! We had a top floor onsen room that was spacious, comfortable, modern with the luxuries included (massage chair, private onsen, and private dining with a 10+ course dinner every night - some of the BEST Japanese food I have eaten). While the staff had limited English they were beyond accommodating and were happy to for us to use translation apps and appreciative of our poor Japanese language skills. The staff were lovely, friendly and very helpful in arranging our luggage transport and assisting with our departure. Some of the floors of the hotel are a touch dated...but it added to the charm of our stay and overall experience. We will definitely be back :)
