A 5-minute walk from Yudanaka Train Station, Tawaraya offers Japanese-style accommodations with free Wi-Fi and a flat-screen TV. We had a great stay at the Tawaraya Ryokan. Excellent and friendly service. We loved the outdoor hot spring bath that could be reserved privately for each room. The breakfast and dinner in the hotel are excellent, best we had on our two week Japan trip.

At Daymaruya Ryokan, guests can enjoy hot-spring baths and traditional Japanese-style accommodations with free wired internet access. I stayed here seven years ago, so we went here already knowing what to expect. The owners were very nice, they picked us up from the train station immediately upon arrival and the next day the owner gave us a ride to the monkey park parking lot. The accommodation had everything we needed. Count on the fact that even in March it's cold in this area and in the accommodation too, luckily there were spot heaters in our room. I would recommend ordering breakfast, it was delicious.

Aburaya Tousen offers luxurious contemporary Japanese-style accommodation with an amazing 11 types of hot-spring baths and free WiFi. I loved the amazing staff and amenities. The private onsen in the suite was amazing and the view with that on the balcony was beautiful. The staff were able to accommodate with an English speaking staff member. The owner of the hotel was also amazing! The hospitality was wonderful. They made sure we had a way to the train station. The Japanese style breakfast and dinner included with our stay were the best food me and my husband both have ever had in our two year stay in Japan. They even give you traditional wear to wear throughout the hotel to make the experience immersive!

Located in Yamanouchi, 4.3 km from Jigokudani Monkey Park, 塵表閣本店 features accommodation with a hot spring bath, a hot tub and a public bath. I liked the dog so much ! I love waking up to the snow every morning and they welcome me with a warm coffee. They felt like a family to me. I enjoyed staying with them. They tried their best to understand English and they were very hospitable. Thank you!

志賀高原 白い温泉 渓谷の湯 in Yamanouchi provides adults-only accommodation with an open-air bath and a shared lounge. The accommodation has a spa bath and a private open-air bath. The room was very tastefully designed with authentic Ryokan styles but had modern comforts. The sitting area had a full height window looking out into the snow covered trees and stream and was like looking at a beautiful painting. At night we left the window open a small amount just to hear the running water of the stream which was amazing. The onsen in the room was just a large bath tub but fed by the Sulphur onsen water and had a large window that could be opened (although at the time ours was iced up so unable to open). The public onsen was very beautiful with a outside onsen looking over the creek running down the back of the property and nothing but snow covered trees. Beds were very comfortable with nice thick pillows. Breakfast and dinners were served in a common dining hall but each table had its own fully separated and private booths. And the food was amazing every time, we never left anything on our dishes. Very close to several ski lifts and gondolas and had a very nice dry room.

Hotarutei Villas provides a hot spring bath and free private parking, and is within 4.4 km of Jigokudani Monkey Park and 14 km of Ryuoo Ski Park. Beautiful villa with a private onsen, with an amazing view of the mountains. Dinner and breakfast were very good. Location perfect for visiting the snow monkeys. Staff were very friendly. Overall a great stay; wish we could have stayed longer!

Located in Yamanouchi, within 20 km of Jigokudani Monkey Park and 29 km of Ryuoo Ski Park, Hotel Khuls Shigakogen provides accommodation with a restaurant and free WiFi as well as free private parking... Great access to slopes, friendly staff, great food.

Providing mountain views, Hotel Higashidate is located in Yamanouchi and provides a wellness area with a sauna and a hot spring bath. Such an amazing location in ShigaKogan! We had a top floor onsen room that was spacious, comfortable, modern with the luxuries included (massage chair, private onsen, and private dining with a 10+ course dinner every night - some of the BEST Japanese food I have eaten). While the staff had limited English they were beyond accommodating and were happy to for us to use translation apps and appreciative of our poor Japanese language skills. The staff were lovely, friendly and very helpful in arranging our luggage transport and assisting with our departure. Some of the floors of the hotel are a touch dated...but it added to the charm of our stay and overall experience. We will definitely be back :)
