Cozy and beautifully kept ryokan with a gorgeous outside bath available for private use. This is an especially nice place for a couple. The staff are kind and helpful and they speak English.

Á Daymaruya Ryokan geta gestir farið í hveraböð og fengið sér hefðbundin gistirými í japönskum stíl með ókeypis LAN-Interneti. Wonderful and caring couple owner. Very grateful he picked us up from the train station and sent us to the snow monkey park. During our 3 days stay we ordered breakfast and it was very delicious and nicely presented in Bento by his wife. The place is very clean.

Aburaya Tousen offers luxurious contemporary Japanese-style accommodation with an amazing 11 types of hot-spring baths and free WiFi. The room included a sauna and a private onsen on the balcony. Right after seeing the room and the facilities we decided to extend our stay for another night to enjoy the place and the onsen. We had a private dinner with good food selection (the staff also introduced us to every Japanese dish that we were served and made suggestions for the next day's dinner). The owner of the hotel was also very nice and joined us for dinner.

Located in Yamanouchi, 4.3 km from Jigokudani Monkey Park, 塵表閣本店 features accommodation with a hot spring bath, a hot tub and a public bath. Very comfortable, clean and traditional apartment. The staff is highly professional, kind and speaks little but enough English! I probably have never had such a great food from a half board booking! This accommodation is a 10/10 even when excluding the proximity to Snow Monkey Park (30 min walk door to monkey).

志賀高原 白い温泉 渓谷の湯 in Yamanouchi provides adults-only accommodation with an open-air bath and a shared lounge. The accommodation has a spa bath and a private open-air bath. The room was very tastefully designed with authentic Ryokan styles but had modern comforts. The sitting area had a full height window looking out into the snow covered trees and stream and was like looking at a beautiful painting. At night we left the window open a small amount just to hear the running water of the stream which was amazing. The onsen in the room was just a large bath tub but fed by the Sulphur onsen water and had a large window that could be opened (although at the time ours was iced up so unable to open). The public onsen was very beautiful with a outside onsen looking over the creek running down the back of the property and nothing but snow covered trees. Beds were very comfortable with nice thick pillows. Breakfast and dinners were served in a common dining hall but each table had its own fully separated and private booths. And the food was amazing every time, we never left anything on our dishes. Very close to several ski lifts and gondolas and had a very nice dry room.

We had a great stay at Shoraiso for our honeymoon in December. Service is unparalleled and the staff are doing above and beyond to make us feel like home without being intrusive. We love the elephant decor of the room and the beautifully landscaped garden, and the private onsen is definitely the highlight of our trip. Breakfast and dinner are included and the food is just exceptional (very tasty with fresh local ingredient and creative presentation). The location is quite convenient - 45min train from Nagano to Yudanaka station and hotel is just a few min drive away (the hotel can arrange pick up). Monkey park is quite close (around 15min taxi away). Overall we couldn’t recommend this hotel more!

Hotarutei Villas býður upp á jarðvarmabað og ókeypis einkabílastæði og er í innan við 3,8 km fjarlægð frá Jigokudani-apagarðinum og 14 km frá Ryuoo-skíðasvæðinu. Beautiful villa with a private onsen, with an amazing view of the mountains. Dinner and breakfast were very good. Location perfect for visiting the snow monkeys. Staff were very friendly. Overall a great stay; wish we could have stayed longer!
