His English is really good and his sense of humour even better. His knowledge of the area and itinerary suggestions worked very well for us. We’d highly recommend the local izakaya 800m from his place.

The location is perfect for a couple of nights in Nikko. The staff are nice and helpful, and the room was great and spacious.

The Ritz-Carlton, Nikko features restaurants, fitness centre, a lobby lounge bar and shared lounge in Nikko situated by Lake Chuzenji and overlooking Mount Nantai. We were expecting a fine hotel experience for our trip to Nikko but experienced so much more at the Ritz Carlton. Elevated, serene, beautiful facilities and accommodations along with one superlative food experience, made for one of our favorite stays anywhere, ever. Both of our rooms were wonderful, but the suite was just wonderful. All of the food was very good during our stay, but our omakase experience - our favorite sushi ever and one of our favorite meals ever. (For what it's worth, I have never used 'ever' so often in a review) Consistently friendly, helpful staff as well. This is a unique and special place and I fully expect that we'll retreat here again on future trips to Tokyo.

Morino Garden is a hidden gem. We stayed in one of the tatami rooms and enjoyed the comfort. The room has a sink, fridge, and microwave, and the shared toilet is barely a step away. (Shower is downstairs, still quite convenient.) But the real charm of Morino Garden is the host. Yuriko went above and beyond for us, offering rides, luggage storage, and even a meal we hadn’t booked. We felt as if we’d been welcomed into a home—as, indeed, we had.

Established in 1666, Honke Bankyu is housed in a registered historical building. The Japanese rooms feature traditional decor, futon bedding and a flat-screen TV. Amazing authentic cultural and culinary experience with a wonderful attention to detail. Staff is very kind and welcoming, and the language barrier is manageable. Rural location next to a charming river in a beautiful landscape.

The best part is climbing net and loft upstairs - my kids very super excited and spent their all free time. Spacious clean and warm rooms, comfortable beds and pillows, with all necessary appliances in the kitchen. The house is suitable for short and long stay any season, as there are heaters and air-conditioning system.

I can only dream of what it must look like in spring when the massive cherry blossom tree is in bloom. The meat, fruit and coffee was a really nice touch.

Everything you need for a weekend trip to Nikko is provided and the beds are outstandingly comfortable! Also the surrounding is so quiet, we slept very well. It is also very close to the stations which is convenient.
