Amazing Guest House Experience – Highly Recommended! I had an absolutely wonderful stay at this guest house, and it exceeded all my expectations! 1️⃣ Perfect Location: The guest house is right next to Kii-Nagashima Station and sits directly on the Kumano Kodo trail, making it an ideal choice for hikers. You can start your trek right from the doorstep—so convenient! 2️⃣ Delicious Meals: The host prepares incredible meals! The lunch box (bento) was especially great for taking on the hike—tasty, filling, and packed with energy. Breakfast and dinner were also fantastic! 3️⃣ Thoughtful Hospitality: Since it was the rainy season, my shoes got completely soaked. The host kindly dried them for me using a dryer—such a considerate gesture that made a huge difference! 4️⃣ Great Sake & Umeshu: During dinner, the host shared some amazing sake and umeshu (plum wine). Both were delicious, especially the umeshu—sweet and smooth, a perfect way to unwind after a long hike. 5️⃣ Easy Communication: The host speaks both English and Chinese and even uses WeChat, which made communication effortless. As a Chinese speaker, I really appreciated this! 6️⃣ Perfect Stay Overall: Everything—from the cozy room to the food, drinks, and hospitality—was outstanding. I thoroughly enjoyed my time here and would 100% recommend it to anyone hiking the Kumano Kodo. It was such an amazing experience. Thank you to the monk staff who were so kind and patient and guided us through meditation custom and practices. Our room included shojin ryori (buddhist vegetarian cuisine) breakfast and dinner which was very balanced and filling. I feel a sense of gratitude and peace coming back to Tokyo. I would like to go every year if I can.

The host was really cool and we could tell he is a very welcoming and warm-hearted soul. We appreciated the cleanliness and organization of the place. We really enjoyed the sauna and hot tub that felt brand new. It is also a convenient 10-minute walk to the beach! The host took some memorable pictures of us, which we also really appreciate. This is a special place ran by a genuine, down-to-earth host. Thank you G-Sun for creating a lovely Wakayama experience!

A sacred stay I’ll never forget Staying at this guesthouse in Fuki was an absolute blessing. Akemi and Tomo are truly special people—so kind, thoughtful, and welcoming. I felt safe, cared for, and deeply supported throughout my stay. Their warmth and presence made all the difference, especially as I was traveling solo. The guesthouse itself is a beautifully preserved traditional Japanese home, full of charm and quiet energy. The village, with only around 200 people, offers an authentic glimpse into life near Kōyasan—deeply connected to nature, community, and spirituality. I was incredibly lucky to have the entire house to myself, and even more so to receive a private tour of Kōyasan from the hosts, which was personal and full of insight. Although the weather was unexpectedly cold for this time of year, the hosts did their best to keep the space warm, offering extra blankets and heaters. Just be aware that heaters typically can’t be left on overnight, so it can get chilly. Even with that, I would absolutely rate the stay as exceptional. The home-cooked breakfasts and dinners were a highlight—delicious, nourishing, and made with so much care. I also spent a peaceful day resting, reading, writing, and enjoying the slow rhythm of the village. It was a deeply grounding and meaningful experience. If you’re looking for something quiet, real, and full of heart, this is the place. I left feeling incredibly grateful.

Close to the station as well as multiple restaurants. The owner was also very kind and accommodating. I left something in the bathroom after checkout and one of their staff was so kind and came all the way to the station to look for me. Absolutely recommend this place!
