Located within the walls of the Marvão Castle, at the top of the high village of Marvão, Dom Dinis Marvão features a rooftop terrace with a Jacuzzi® and panoramic views of the countryside below. Hotel was right in the village next to the castle. Really cute and cozy. Even had a fire in the breakfast room. Room had a terrace with fantastic views of the valley. Highly recommend staying there.

The owners, Anouk and Dennis, a Dutch couple are so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them. The 2 rooms are self catering but for a small price a very tasty continental breakfast is available. Our ‘room’ consisted of a huge bedroom with very comfortable super king bed leading to modern fully equipped bathroom with wonderfully powerful shower. There is also a sitting room and further twin bedroom upstairs. Outside is a salt pool, expanse of grassy area (good place for breakfast) with shady trees. There is also a very well equipped shared kitchen for both rooms. Wonderful place, we had a great time. Thank you.

Two weary cyclists arrived for one night. We were delighted! Ines—one of the owners— is warm and welcoming. Our room was splendid—comfortable, lovely, overlooking the beautiful pool. Breakfast was perfect—obrigado Patricia! We liked this beautiful Solar ( a former school where Ines was a schoolgirl—how cool!) so much that we stayed one more night! My friend left for work in Lisboa and I stayed for a third night! One night turned into three because it is so delightful! I have cycled 94,000+km around the world and have stayed at well over 1000+ hotels around the world on every continent except Antarctica—Solar Dos Frades is one of the best! Obrigado Ines! Our airconditioning failed with was notable at the reception, directly the staff knocked out our door to fix it. Quality bedding and clean. Nice rooms. All rooms have special names with dedicated sweet referred to the room type. 15 minutes walk time downtown.
