Great day out with the family. Old style science and technology museum, I hope it doesn't lose some of it's charm when it's refurbished. There are several sites around Munich. If you want to see the cars then you need to go to one of the alternate sites - plan ahead.
If you like engineering and science, you will particularly like this museum. It's enormous - Allocate more than one day - we love museums, but after about 5 hours, we experienced such information overload that we went and lay down in a park! There's SO much to see, and you cannot possibly see it all in one day.
We got the combined ticket and took a train out to the flight museum. Know that it is one stop outside of the "ring" of the day pass on the U Bahn. Also, as you walk to it, you go through a castle grounds. Getting off the path to the museum to explore the grounds of the castle is worth it. We almost walked through without noticing.
We knew nothing about this museum before we went. We went there mainly because it was a very, very cold and wet day and wanted to be inside! However we were pleasantly surprised - our children had a great time there and left at closing time.
This is, at least at present, in different locations that isn’t made clear in the tourist guides/leaflets. The main site is worth checking out and book tickets ahead. I didn’t get around the the other locations with cars/planes.
Second time at Motel 1 Deutsches Museum and it was as good as before. Everything is nicely designed, starting with lobby and bar, ending with quality room furniture. Pleasure to see, and very comfortable to use. I really appreciate the location, it may not be in the middle of the city centre, but area was very quiet - as was the room. We slept very well. It was possible to leave the luggage at the reception, very convenient. And hotel bar had a nice vibe, spent an evening there.
Terrific location close to the train station. Easy check in with room ready early for us. Clear and quick communication through messages. So much to see and do in Munich, historic Churches, the Rathaus, the Residenz, Deutsches Museum and of course all the different beer halls and bakeries to try. Wow! What a city!!
Rooms are small but pretty gut. Beds are really good. Location is fine - ner to public transport stops and 15-25 minutes by foot from Deutsches Museum and historical part of the city.
One needs about 4-5 weeks to see them all! The Deutsches Museum in particular is one of the largest and most comprehensive technical museums in the world. It alone would take at least 4 days to properly view all the exhibits. In addition the three galleries that comprise the Pinakotheken display art works from 15th - 18th century religious paintings to 20th century paintings, modern art, design and architecture. The National Bavarian Museum and the
The Deutsches Museum is a massive science museum, very interesting, and most displays have information in English as well as German.
There are three separate sites to the Deutsches Museum - don't miss the planes, trains and automobiles at the Deutsches Museum Verkehrszentrum
Neue Pinakothek, Alte Pinakothek Deutsches Museum (the DM was a bit disorganised so worth taking a guided tour)
