This stylish, family-run hotel and restaurant is located in the heart of the romantic city of Heidelberg, directly between the Heiligengeistkirche church and the Old Bridge. Fantastic spacious room. Lovely helpful staff. Terrific location. Restaurant is special
This hotel in Heidelberg’s historic quarter has a beer garden overlooking the Alte Brücke Bridge. It is a 3-minute walk from Hauptstraße shopping street, and a 10-minute walk from Heidelberg Castle. This was a small family owned B&B with attached restaurant.
Visiting the castle is so much more than looking at beautiful ruins! Buy the ticket and take the trip up the mountain on the inclines to the very top! The views are incredible! We did this first and then proceeded back down to the castle! Second, spend the extra euros and take a guided tour of the inside of the castle! It was so worth it! An hour of history! Our guide was Christian. He was an anthropology major and shared great information! Afterwards, explore the castle area some more, check out the massive wine barrels and try out a glass of wine! Finish your tour with a walk back down to the old city! So much easier going downhill than up, but it is on cobblestone and rough on your ankles!
It was my third visit to Heldelberg. It shows the history and good combination with University and houses. Walking the castle in the morning gives us fresh air and nice scenary. Walking in the night shows nice view of the castle and totally different mood. ighly recommend this castle again.
It is just beautiful, be it at daytime or during night, be it from the Philosphenweg just opposite on the other hill or from the bridge. In nighttime it is illuminated in red. The view from the castle veranda down on the city is amazing.
Go with the funicular, walk around, skip the guided tour which is not worth it: the castle is all reconstructed recently anyway: all you really need to see is included in the 7€ ticket that includes the ride.
Currently under much construction and will take almost two years to complete. One needs to know/appreciate the historical evolution of the castle to gain a feeling for its history and place in Heidelberg which, is not clearly explained in much of the pamphlet materials. The castle has been allowed to deteriorate far too long before any restoration work was started but, if you know and understand the history of the castle- and I mean the factual history of who occupied the castle and when and their place in history at the time.
Get there early to avoid crowds and book a tour. Very beautiful Castle with lots of history. Watch out for guy taking group photos at end of tour and trying to get you to buy one. When would you ever see that group of strangers again?
The location was fabulous. Right on the river and walking distance to Heidelberg Castle. Great shops, restaurants, and coffee bars are close. Having breakfast in the morning was such a bonus. The staff were friendly and so helpful. We even extended our stay another night because we loved the spot so much. We were traveling by car and they were very helpful with parking. You do have to pay, but it is a reduced rate and very reasonable for Germany.
The breakfast is typical of European hotels. There is a decent selection of breads and a few cheeses and deli meats as well as a scrambled or boiled eggs. The coffee machine offers cappuccino, espresso, and regular coffee. The convenience of having a quick breakfast before heading out to Heidelberg Castle or the market area is a plus.
Awesome studio apartment Attic, genius bathtub, easy handling of keys via access code, stunning view towards the Neckar river as well as towards the Heidelberg castle. Very clean on arrival. All facilities working and AC as an extra during hot summer days.
Great location in the Altstadt, just a block from the Christkindlmarkt and a short walk to Heidelberg castle. The staff was very pleasant and the breakfast was very nice. The breakfast room was very cute.
