Everybody has heard about this sculpture, actually it does represent Copenhagen. Personally I saw it from the sightseeing boat and was surprised at how small it actually is. I didnt go nearer as the crowd of tourists taking pictures next to it was not a welcome sight. I found Copenhagen is thankfully, much more than the Little Mermaid, so if it is crowded....skip and go explore the city instead!
The walk to see the Little Mermaid is lovely, through a nice park and past a beautiful fountain. The little mermaid herself is an attractive statue, but that'a all. We saw it in September, and despite signs to say you may not stand on the statue, many people were doing it. I can only imagine how crowded it must be in summer!
Everyone told me how tiny this sculpture was and not to bother. They were wrong. We walked from the city center and loved the multitude of sites to see along the way. The parks and walkways are gorgeous and the view from the harbor is lovely. It's not giant, but much bigger than I expected and you can get nice and close. It was an exciting adventure to go find her.
I did a run around the harbour and managed to take a few photos early in the morning (@07:30) before everyone started crowding it (apparantly, later in the day one can barely see it without tourists overcrowding the poor girl)
It is a beautiful statue. It seems quite dirty though. It is not placed in an easy location & you need to climb down some rocks to take a closer picture. Otherwise you have to stay on the road level & there is a metal bar that ruins the panoramic with the statue.
great place to stay in when visiting Copenhagen , all the facilities there with air condition also , the two bed room apartment i booked fits 5 persons and has 2 bathrooms ,, parking garage available for a discounted price , there is supermarket and Italian restaurant near by a short walk to the little mermaid statue all in all a lovely place to stay
Nice room, cozy TV space (common) with table and sofa perfect for a chat or a beer, elevator. Great location, near subway and bus. 10 mins walk from the Little Mermaid (which is little in fact ;) Lovely Handy guide provided from the hotel, was of a great use while walking in the center. Recommend both for a leisure and a business stay.
