Dont leave it too late in the afternoon to visit Anne Hathaways cottage. A good 2 hours is required, after visiting the cottage and its gardens you can walk around the wider are of the 9 acres of land, through a wood and see some bees active around 6 bee hives! The guide does a first class job explainign the history.
Its very well presented and in beautiful surroundings. You can revisit on the same ticket and get a good discount if you want to visit the other houses. The cafe is also good. The Bell pub is also very close and does good typical pub food at a reasonable price.
We decided not to go in as after paying for parking it was quite expensive to visit the cottage as well. I would probably visit this at some other time when I wasn't actually staying in Stratford, more if I was planning just a day out.
Buy the all in one multiuse ticket online before you go. It will allow you entry into all 5 Shakespeare birthplaces for one year. It is actually cheaper than 2 seperate entry tickets. We managed to see 4 places in one day. The fifth is only open in summer.
A very interesting place to visit. Allow about 2 hours to see the house, gardens and walks. Arrive early to avoid the coach trips as it can get very busy and you don't get such a personal tour when there are too many people.
I thought it was amazing. So happy I went to see it. Historic 15th century building, it was interesting to see how people lived back then and learn the history of Anne Hathaway and the Hathaway family and how they kept the cottage in the family for 13 generations up until 1911.
